sorority vs fraternity gpas?

by: ???

Why is it that sorority gpas are always so much higher than fraternity gpas?

This isn't just an Alabama thing, all of my hs friends' schools have it too. I just find it particularly surprising at a school like Alabama where sorority rankings are based so heavily on gpas as opposed to looks, involvement, philanthropy, and competitions like it is at most schools (not saying this is a good or bad thing, just that it's weird that fraternities don't hold their members to similarly high standards).

You do not get these rankings then.

This is the way it is at most universities. Sororities perform higher in GPA. I guess the old saying behind every successful man is a woman that makes it necessary ( because she’s smart enough to know better) is still true.

It's not a fraternity/sorority thing. The female average is higher than the male average at UA. We can get into arguments about why that is, but basically imo I think girls care more about their GPAs, while boys are still developing into their mid 20s and probably don't take school as seriously.

A lot of guys in fraternities are wealthier types who assume they’ll inherit the family business after graduation so to them college is just to get connections.

Also girls are a lot more competitive in socially acceptable outlets like grades. Like 85% of the posts here are about sorority rankings, not fraternity ones. Girls compete too.
