theta?
by: ..theta seems to always be at the bottom of people's lists, and i was just curious why? i've read multiple times that their girls are typically smart and nice, so is it the social and looks aspect that puts them down on lists? just genuinely curious

Yeah, they are involved and nice but it is a mixed house and there are reasons they are ranked low:
1. They have a smaller, older house. It is harder to recruit when competing with our houses that are amazing.
2. They are a NR house that takes many OOS girls.
3. Not a Machine controlled house.
4. Unlike most other houses, they have all of their girls rush. They don't seem to hide their less then perfect girls upstairs or in behind the scenes jobs. I saw all different types of girls at the theta house, some beautiful some average, some social and some quiet hard to talk to.

1) Machine houses down vote them.
2) Newer strats down vote them...so their own house is not at the bottom.
3) Same can be said for DZ and AOPi... they dont want to be at the bottom either.
4) Alpha phi more than happy to down vote them...to offset all their new down votes.
4) OR down votes them (and any other NR house).. got to make OR sound special.
5)PNMs read that Theta is at the bottom on GR and decide thery are are worst before recruitement begins.

I'll add that they don't seem to be on here self ranking or downvoting so they can be higher. They know that on campus they are seen as smart and involved in lots of things and they don't really worry too much about GR. Their sisterhood seems strong and they seem happy to let others play this game. I think it hurts them in rush but obviously not enough for them to start pointing out the real bottom houses.

New to this post, but I think real bottom houses are the ones who do not add anything to UA Greek life...bottom grades, embarrassing videos, low activity, no focus on improvements of any kind. We can all think of those groups without naming names, but Theta would not be in that group.

What the ? All the sororities should be as active in being pro woman and leave the Machine, but they all see the price that group has paid and are afraid to be so bold. As for not participating in Derby Days, other strats are also not participating. I think Theta's choices are pretty classy.

They are above average on grades and are reputed to have a pretty good but not outstanding sisterhood. They are lowest bc they and dz are the most random. They are still a great house they all are honestly. If you are a smart independed girl from Illinois they are great. But als they struggle as a group socially which drives them down in ranks

Honestly I’ve always thought a HUGE part of what separates top and bottom houses is how selective they are able to be during rush, regardless of the quality of girls they end up with. Theta has indisputably great girls, but they are NOT popular during rush (in large part because of the small house honestly) and a lot of girls do not end up there because they chose it.
Of the bottom houses, theta has the beat grades and they also have very involved, genuinely nice girls. I think their new house will be a huge turning point for them, but until then they will have a really difficult time during rush and they will stay at the bottom.

What would you consider the "real bottom houses" to be? And, for that matter, the real top houses? What's your criteria?
