why are people constantly ranking the houses?

Do you have a few days to understand the insecurities of people and their need to pump up their decisions or put down the decisions of others to justify their life?

I think grade reports are really the only "ranks" that matter. If you plan on shooting for A+s in every class, a house toward the bottom of the grade report may not provide an environment that will help you reach your academic goals as well as a top grade house would.
I was torn between 2 houses, 1 that was in top 5 grades and one in bottom 5 (but a higher 'tier'). I chose the house with better grades and lower tier and now have over a 4.0. If I had wound up in the other house I don't think I would have as good of a GPA, or it would've been a lot harder to get it anyway.

Sadly, it's called insecurity. NO SECURE person tears down others, rather they help build others up. It is really that simple.

Ranks are not done by actives.

Think about it - what active would come in GR and rank any house other than their own top? And if doing so would create some controversy - you just wouldn’t do it.

The ranks on here are very consistent, but I doubt actives in those houses consistently noted as “top” are on GR posting and ranking themselves top, let alone gives my opinions on how things stack up “underneath” them.

Ranks seem to be posted mostly by HS girls and some trolls trying to get a feel for how houses are perceived. It tends to feed on itself.

There is some truth but much that these ranks mis-represent.

Some of the debate afterword may come from actives - house XYZ isn’t that low, switch this with that, etc. That being so, look at the number of comments - usually less than 100 and many clearly coming from the same person. Like there are 20 people making comments and compare that to the 5000 or so active members in all houses.

Pretty much you can see that very few represent the opinions posted here!
