who has the top seniors?

by: 4

So I've read all the threads about top PNM from in-state, from Texas, from Atlanta, from X private school and Y state and which house they tend to go. Read all the descriptions about how each house prepares for recruitment. But I'm more curious about what happens after the hype and excitement about pledge classes and top girls has died down like as upperclassmen?

What happens to top PNMs, do they become queens in college or do they just disappear into their small circle of exclusive friends? Do the top girls from the PC 15 class still get gossiped about or has everyone forgot who they are. Do the girls who have tremendous pressure as sophmores to put off an image of being fun, pretty, and smart in order to recruit the newest crop of PNMs relax a bit or do they keep up the routine well throughout their junior years too?

The toon nms from pc15 are fading and usually do not rise to leadership. Few keep it going n recruitment

Honestly I think a lot of houses (OR in particular) forget that once the dust settles after recruitment, and especially after a year or two, people don’t look at who got the top girls, they look at the quality of the PCs as a whole.
If you get “top girls” but have a large number of fillers, those filler girls will be rushing girls the next year, and it starts a cycle of an overall lower quality of PC. A lot of NR houses are rising because they don’t get the top instate girls that OR is going for, but overall their PC is consistently good.

Most members drop by at least their sophomore year, so there are very few senior members anyway. Some sororities more than others, but very few juniors and less seniors.

Most healthy houses had active Fall membership at 325+. Many houses have girls who graduate early or who can go alumna status after 6 semesters. But, there are still a good number of girls remaining for their junior and senior years. Most of those upperclassmen are contributing to their houses, either by grades, helping younger members, or appointed positions. I will agree that it is a pretty sad girl who sticks around just to party.

“Most members” don’t drop by senior year unless you’re in Alpha Phi. Yes, by the time you get to senior year your PC will have shrunk by a decent amount, but even in NR houses will a vast majority of OOS members (aka girls who might not “need” the houses much as a social connection once they leave Alabama) there are a large number of seniors who still love their house and want to be an active part of it.

Most OR keep at least half to 3/4 of their pledge classes through graduation. NR has more drops

So in order to get "known" and rise in your sorority and be involved in on-campus organizations as a junior/senior, does it matter how connected/well-known you were as a high schooler, or could someone who was from further OOS but still had the grades and kept up her looks still become prominent? Or would that be considered social-climbing?

I'm assuming sororities with more in-state and Southern girls have better retention, but do they reserve all the prestigious positions for their Old Girls Club?

Not at all. High school is over, despite what some people say on here. You are not getting into any higher level position in chapter or on campus if you haven't proven that you are capable and suited for it and can keep your college grades up at the same time. And really not all girls want to hold positions on campus or in their chapter; it can be a whole lot of work in addition to studies and not everyone is cut out for it. It is the 80/20 rule - 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. Girls who want to be involved and move into leadership need to start out that way as freshmen, helping out in chapter committees, volunteering on campus and applying to join organizations, and just being visible showing a can-do attitude and showcasing their strengths. Politics do play somewhat into chapter elections and campus organizations, but that's life; not so much because of Old Girls Club but personalities and who you get along with, just like everywhere else. OOS girls become chapter presidents all the time.

Experience is that positions are still connections driven even after freshman year. The connected pnms get connected bid day sisters and then connected bigs. Then those girls have upperclassmen pulling for them, guiding them, and getting them in. The filler girls continue to be marginalized and are pushed into grunt work positions. Because of the pull of Greeks all over campus organizations this repeats itself in positions outside of the house as well. Biggest reason my big's roommate left UA and transferred. I honestly can see why so many OOS girls drop out or transfer. They feel they are too smart to be put in a corner and dismissed.

Or they have a terrible attitude, as demonstrated here.
