by: areasPNM’s asking which houses have girls from here or there, in state or out of state, this region or that region – honestly there is not really anything you can do with any answers you get. It’s not like you can actually narrow down your choices ahead of recruitment this way; the houses will do the choosing and make the decisions on invitations and releases. Any actives from your area are going to have you on their radar already and could even be paired with you during rounds if their houses are interested in you. Also, no one posting on here has a comprehensive list of where everyone is from and what houses they are in; there are actives from all over spread among so many houses. Don’t worry about it. Focus on the things you can actually affect, like sending in a great resume and flattering portraits, getting your recs in, maintaining a positive and appropriate social media presence, and focusing on how you will present yourself in person.

Yes!!! There are so many things you can focus on before rush that are things you can actually change! There still so much time to work out, join new organizations, do something cool over the summer, etc.
Where you are from is where you are from, if a house doesn’t want you because you’re not from xyz small town in Alabama, why would you want to be there anyways?
I think it’s good to come into rush with realistic expectations, but there are girls from EVERYWHERE in every house, why is there so much preoccupation with it on here??

Trust me, coming from a far OOS girl, you will be able to tell which houses aren’t interested in you based on geography right off the bat. For me personally (I rushed in ‘14) Tri Delt and Alpha Gam clearly had no interest in getting to know me so when they dropped me after open house there was no love lost because I would not have wanted to be there and was not excited about the houses for a second.
Just because a house is a “top house” does not mean it’s the right house for you. Trust your gut during rush and (not to be cheesy) trust the process. It will work out.
