does reputation matter?

I know of several girls with terrible reputations being rushed hard by several OR sororities bc these girls are are pretty and considered popular. Any alum of these OR chapters - old or recent- would not be pleased to know of these girls reputations but it just doesn’t seem to matter to the actives. Why is this and why are these girls getting rushed? This is not just a case of occasional high school drinking but some really bad stuff that the girls coming through the following year would all know and affect their rush too.
