thoughts on kd
by: PnmAre they really as bad as people say they are on this site? There are some older girls from my high school (I’m from a neighboring state) that have gone KD and they’re all sweet and not super wild...

I have a lot of friends in KD and they all seem to really enjoy it. Some are more wild than others but all would fit in well in my sorority (another OR sorority that is similar/competes with kd)
KD gets a bad rep for being really exclusive but I don’t think they are any more exclusive than kappa or chi o. They just recruit with a heavy focus on connections, so if you don’t have them you are pretty much shooting in the dark when it comes to their house in recruitment. Since it is connections based, this can rub girls the wrong way who don’t get a super warm welcome during IWT or philanthropy rounds that are perfect PNMs on paper (high gpa, pretty, involved).

Regarding recruitment, I kept getting the same awkward girl for three rounds in KD. I kept them on my schedule because my mom said they were good here. I met other girls in the same bump group that were somewhat better, but I seriously had to carry all the conversations. I don’t know if they kept me around because I was a different OR leg. I finally ranked KD after sisterhood ( who knows, maybe they dropped me, too). Since then I have met a few KD’s at various parties. IMO, they are nothing like the Kappa’s I have met.

Sarcastic wit is definitely a kd trait. Sweet is not the word, but most are actually nice (but not kind).

People are going to hate on any “top” sorority. That is just the way it is. Plus, members from other sororities like to get on here and dog their rivals to scare away PNMs from a particular house. I would not trust Greek rank if my life depended on it. KD is known to be exclusive because their rush is based basically on in house connections. Most KDs aren’t over the top sweet or bubbly. But they’re not mean. Some of them like to have fun, but a freshmen KD was selected for capstone men and women, last year’s Panhellenic President was a KD, and they were #6 in grades this fall. I loved KD during rush and I have many friends who are KDs. Don’t let jealous people get in your way.

Thank you for the above, KD alum. That is written just perfectly. Sadly to call your bluff - No NR girl is going to write that kind of long, detailed rush advice and analysis of someone’s rush experience. LOL. No one likes KD outside of KD, especially not NR. Just another example.

This is what happens when Trolls, who don't even go here, get on this site and just spout stuff off.
You obviously aren't on campus. Are they everyone's favorite? No. Disliked outside of KD? WRONG. They are active around school, and all the KDs I know have friends in a lot of sororities and other school organizations.
Might be best if you go away now, and let the actual girls from Alabama talk.

It’s also worth noting that they are compared to kappa a lot, and many of the girls are good friends with kappas.
Kd has consistently better grades on campus and slightly more representation in campus organizations (they still aren’t known for this). KD is typically more sought after than kappa by in state girls because they have a less wild reputation, but Kappa is much more receptive to out of state girls.
