Despite the negative stereotypes, I know QUALITY in state girls who chose NR houses (and not just top new row houses) because they wanted their own college experience or they genuinely clicked with the girls in the house and felt at home there.
Honestly more than the girls themselves, I’ve found that some in state parents can be SO rude and demeaning when PNMs are interested in houses they don’t think are up to their standard. I wish those parents would let their daughters chose what makes them happy instead of showing what shallow, washed up losers they are trying to relive their glory days.

Used to be that in state girls who went NR were girls who were cut from all the OR houses, in the past ~2 years I’ve seen a lot more girls who had the confidence to just pick houses they genuinely liked, so now you see a lot more far OOS OR girls, and in state new row girls

I was rushed hard by several OR houses and chose a NR house. The OR houses did not drop me. I’m very happy where I’m at.

Things are changing and you will find a lot of alums on here saying that they're not because they don't want things to be different for their houses. But a lot of quality girls now are less interested in what is considered top by their mom's friends and they're looking for what seems like a good fit for them. A lot of girls are tired of being in high school and are open for a more independent college experience. I've noticed that just in the last two years and expect it to continue.
