I'm northern OOS and old row but XO was one of my least favorite houses during IWT.

They have a strong in state draw. I really didn't click with them nor did many of my rho chi OOS friends

That being said, they remain highly desired.

Given OP what you are asking, it's kind of "if you have to ask" it isn't going to be easy. (Good news - maybe not desired).

To get a bid generally takes good grades and friends from HS or church that you known the house. Focus is on non- Birmingham/Mobile in state.

I loved Chi O during rush but I am in state and have many friends in Chi O. They do pull a lot of in state and surrounding states. They are very southern. With that being said I had several oos state friends who loved them during rush but were disappointed they got cut early from them bc they were legacies, had amazing grades, above 30 act and still got cut. You really need good connections in this house!

I have a couple of OOS friends that are chi o and some of them have complain pretty regularly that they feel like outsiders in the house. All instate tend to stick with their friend group from highschool and don’t really care to meet other girls. While my friends have found there small group withinand love them they just describe the house as very divided. Keep in mind there are other houses like this as well like KD and Kappa. No hate to any of them I have many friends in all of them but those are the houses that first come to mind as VERY divided

They dirty rush a good bit. They may tell you that you are getting a bid but don't count on it.

Chi Omega women are naturally authentic in their social interactions. If you tell them directly during recruitment that you really love their sisterhood and want to be a member of Chi O, they can't directly offer you a bid but they can state something on the order of "We hope to see you again soon." That's a neutral statement, and can mean seeing you around greek row or in class/on campus.

I can only respond based on personal experience -- since I am very close to an in-state legacy XO and hang out with them a little because of that. XO is definitely among the most Southern girl houses and they don't seem as interested in OOR as many of the other old row houses. My friends and her clique are very tight and do lots of things together but they also talk a lot about their sisters--especially if they see those sisters as "lesser quality" so to speak (which is most of them). XO also gives bids out to pnms based on family connections and string pulling, so those pnms get in, but then they are sorta excluded and not too happy in the sorority. My year they really went after Mobile girls and they had very mixed results. They tend to cross at pref, and then lose out to KKG and KD a lot in the end. Maybe they will change, but don't count on it. To me they are more insular than KD and Kappa, contrary to most opinions on greekrank.

I completely agree with this as well. One thing to remember is that there are A LOT of XO chapters everywhere in the country and there are many decent chapters in the South, so every year they have the most legacies to have to pick from. And their legacies mostly want them, so it’s more difficult for a non-Southerner non-legacy to even get invited to the later rounds. Yet they’ve never been First Circle, so they don’t attract the same attention from the in state crowd as KD, DDD, or even AGD from some areas which leaves them to fly under the radar a bit but also pushes them to make a name for themselves with grades and activities.

Chi o is well-liked and very sought after by southern PNMs. They’re chapter is kind of split, with one half being very southern/put together girls from Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, etc, and the other half being “earthy”, down-to-earth girls. Agree with Gigi, they’re chapter can be divided in this sense between in-group (connected southern girls) and out-group (great girls who fit the chi o personality but lack the connections).

On campus, they are very present and involved. Always second in grades— while this would be a big accomplishment for other houses, Chi O is arguably the most competitive house. They take every competition (Greek week, homecoming week, etc VERY seriously). They also seem to advertise the strength sisterhood the most out of every other house. I’m not a chi o so I can’t speak on how their sisterhood actually is, but a lot of girls in other chapters notice this.

Overall very solid, well-rounded house. Could really afford to branch out from deep southern states, but they recruit top-quality girls in the areas they excel in.

I loved chi o during rush. My friend group was all from the south and also loved chi o. I didn't realize how much they didn't care about northern/western girls until I talked to some girls from OOR in my house. They talk about how it was boring for them and how they often forget about chi o, when it was one of my favorite houses to visit.
