sophomore!!!!
by: hiiiiHi there, can someone give me a real and honest rundown of what its like to rush as a sophomore? Will it be harder than rushing as a freshman? A lot of girls i know are re-rushing (as in they rushed freshman year and dropped out of rush and are rushing again). will it be harder to rush as someone who is re-rushing? What is the likelihood i will end up in one of the 3 houses i really like as a sophomore? thanks for any honest answer!

I’ve actually seen a lot of sophomores have a lot of success. It definitely depends on what your GPA/ connections/ freshman year involvement are like.
I rushed as a freshman, but from what I’ve seen I think sophomores have a lot more confidence a lot of the time because rushing as a freshman is such an overwhelming experience and if you’ve never been around Alabama Greek life all the girls in the houses seem like the most beautiful, intimidating people you’ve ever seen lol.

True, my roommate rushed as a sophomore and had two old row houses on pref when she knew no one in the houses and is from the west coast.
However, it certainly helps if you’re a sophomore with best friends in the house, so that can be a big factor for where sophomores go because they already know the houses better than most freshmen.

I know this is going to be a generic and cliche answer but it honestly depends on the girl. I had several sophomore friends rush, as did I as a sophomore, and our preference schedules all had a range of houses. Top and bottom houses, old and new row houses at pref together. Here are some of the sophomore girls’ situations I remember
Girl 1 had: KD, ZTA
Girl 2 had: Phi Mu, DG, and Aphi
Girl 3 had: Tri Delt, Aphi
Girl 4 had: AOPi, Gamma phi, and DZ
Girl 5 had: Kappa, Tri Delt, Adpi
It was the oddest thing. Being a sophomore really doesn’t limit you at all, ESPECIALLY if you have good grades!

I rushed as a sophomore, and I had a perfect rush. A perfect rush is when everyday your schedule is filled completely. I had a good gpa and I knew some girls in some houses, but I specifically rushed houses where I didn't know anyone. I ended up in a great old row house, and rushing as a sophomore was really easy/not as stressful. You also get a better choice in a way due to a different quota and if your dropped, it isn't the end of the world like if you were a freshmen. Just be yourself and you'll end up in a house you love!!

i mean i wouldn't say it depends on your connections because a lot of girls i know go into rush without knowing many people and end up in their top house
