I'm a sophomore and never went through rush. Considering it's probably way too late for me to do formal rush next year, I'm kinda interested in SK. I consider myself to be decent looking and sociable and am wondering if SK is a good idea? Do you think it will attract decent girls or a bunch of rejects?
I also heard we might get a KBG chapter? Should I consider them either?

KBG is gonna be a hard pass in my opinion but SK is definitely an option for you! They will be looking for older members to fill leadership positions. As long as you have a good gpa and can present yourself well you should be able to make it. The only thing I would warn you about is that colonizing a chapter will not be the same as joining an established chapter with a bunch of members. It will be tough as the chapter tries to find its footing here at Alabama.
As for if they will attract “decent” girls, only time will tell. Have you considered SDT at all? They are another option you can look into. My only hesitation with KBG is that they have a very weak nationals with a lot of chapter turnover. SDT and SK are NPC and more established.

you can’t judge an entire sorority of 100+ girls because you met 1 or 2 you didn’t like...

I think she just meant if they're all good friends, then based on the girls she's met she doesn't see herself fitting in there.I don't think she was saying it's a con to be close. if she was then she doesn't get the point of greek life lol

New colonies will have more girls going through rush than they end up taking. It's competitive like regular recruitment in that way. They won't take everyone that's interested just to get numbers. It's a pretty thorough process with interviews by national reps. They will be looking for leadership qualities more than "decent looking and sociable girls." They'll want new members who can get the chapter off on a strong foot. Just don't go into it thinking it's a club you sign up for that's easy to get into.

The new SK colony will be looking for new members that are very involved on campus. I hope you have joined multiple orgs and have leadership skills. They need sophomores, juniors and some seniors to take on exec roles and project leads in the new colony.
As others have mentioned go through formal rush. Meet SK and all the chapters.
