I'm a Tri Delt legacy from the north and will be going through rush in the fall. Will I automatically get a bid?

Way to totally miss the point.....
Ask your SISTER how things work.
Get it?

Since I am a Tri Delt legacy, will that go against me in rush at the other sororities? I was thinking of Phi Mu too.

Why do you keep asking the same question? Rush and find out.

DDD hates PM, and vice versa.
If yo go to DDD during rush, be sure NOT to go to PM!

You really should rush and find out, you arent going to get a ddd bid for sure but that doesnt mean you wont. However, the more info you put online, the actives can figure out who you are and being on greek ranks WILL NOT help your recruitment AT ALL!

yes you will. A good friend of mine is from Pennsylvania and her sister was a DDD. Immediately, they swarmed and hotboxed her on the first day

What is "hotboxed"? I know that I will be sought after by all the other houses, my sister says that my exotic looks will separate me from all of the southern blondes and I should definitely get a bid from them or Phi Mu.

All due respect, but did your sister go to school in the south? Specifically in the SEC and even more specifically at Bama? Her advice might be right for where she did go, and I'm sure she means well and wants the best for you, but unless she knows SEC rush -- the most competitive sorority recruitment in the the nation -- she doesn't need to be saying what you can definitely expect. (See comment 21 for a little info about it.)

Believe me, with 2000 PNMs rushing, you'll be far from the only one with exotic looks. One, not all southern lassies are blondes, and two, Bama has women rushing from all over the country. You're talking some cream of the crop competition. Most PNMs do find sorority homes if they rush right. (Again, see #21.)

Once-upon-a-time, being a legacy almost guaranteed a bid. Today, in recruitments as big and competitive as Bama's, nothing is a sure thing. There are so many legacies that it's impossible for them all to get bids to their legacy and many don't.

As for knowing you'll be sought after by other houses, I'm sorry, but you don't know that at all. I'm a sorority alum (top tier, old row) who has been sending recs in on Bama PNMs for years, and no matter what your high school background is, I promise you've never experienced anything like SEC sorority rush. Gotta live it to believe it. Remember, you'll be rushing with over 2000 other young ladies wanting bids as much as you do, and sororities can only extend so many. You'll rush every house during formal recruitment and they'll decide if you get invited back to next round. Make sure you have recs to all of them.

Great news: lots of OSS PNMs, from all over the country, pledge at Bama. I have, however, seen total packages get heavy cuts and dropped by their favorites, so all PNMs need open minds and to look for the best house FOR THEM. As long as you've got the grades and recs, present yourself well and are willing to consider all houses (because they all have lots to offer), you should have a good outcome. Will it be DDD? Maybe, maybe not. Unless your sister is a DDD active at Bama ("a sitting sister"), the legacy status probably won't hurt you with other sororities. Good luck!
