by: ?what does every alpha phi chapter recruit based on? is it literally JUST looks? anywhere i see an alpha phi she is almost always blonde either in public or social media or at least pretty. is that actually all they care about? how can their hq be okay with that?

you can NOT be this stupid. Ok, I'll take the bait. You are -- as you so eloquently put -- literally, correct it is just looks at every chapter including: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Penn (not the football school you hicks), UVA, Cornell, Dartmouth or schools where the average ACT score is not a 17.

Yeah all good schools it’s the same. WUSTL, Northwestern (though not as bad), UC Berkeley, GW...they’re all known for being the pretty and snotty party girls and that’s all that defines them.

AT a lot of these schools that are mentioned, including Berkeley, Michigan, and Texas, most of the girls going through recruitment are really smart and accomplished anyway, so grades aren't really an issue, so they need to find something to recruit on. Just because these girls are pretty and like to party doesn't mean they're not smart or involved. I'm not an APhi, but I have a lot of friends who are and they are great girls. A lot of these girls would be on scholarships at Alabama but they chose to go to better schools.

^^ no one is saying the Alpha Phis at these schools are stupid. Far from it! You clearly have to be book smart to get into any of the schools mentioned. But Alpha Phi still focuses on recruiting hot, vapid girls because that’s their type. For example, I have friends in a DG chapter at a top school and a Theta chapter at another and an Alpha Phi at another (I came to Bama on scholarship like you said). The DG always talks about how her chapter has leadership training and diversity presentations and sisterhood events, the Theta is on her executive council or whatever and she’s constantly planning sisterhood events or at her house studying with sisters. The Alpha Phi, even though she’s one of my closest friends growing up only talks about her mixers and boys and how they party. From what I gather they are all in pretty good chapters are their respective schools so yeah...

Alpha Phi colonized at another university in my city a few years ago. They took over a "local" organization and in doing so their HQ did not extend bids to all of the less than pretty girls in the original local org that they took over. It's literally a universal, HQ issue. Not just your chapter or a few.

It's pretty clear that they have a national "brand" and a mandate to be the "hot house," although they didn't used to.
About 20 years ago, they had several failing chapters at big Greek schools (Cornell, Duke, Mizzou, and UVA) that they "revitalized" (their term) by putting all the actives on alum status and recruiting a brand-new chapter of hot party girls. And it worked, because those chapters are considered top/upper middle today. Over time it became an overall recruitment strategy.

They didn't used to be that way. This is a pretty new thing with their current leadership. Lots of unrest about it internally. It's not the organization a lot of their alumnae joined.

I’m from Ohio and go to school here, but I know they have that reputation at Ohio State, Miami, and Kent State. I think of every major public school that has a chapter in Ohio, only one of them would be considered “weak” and that’s at a commuter school.

Also from Ohio and at Case Western (which has strong greek life but is not competitive like UA or many of the schools listed) they also have the hot party girl rep. Pretty funny to find this is a broader trend.
