clubs?
by: lonely transfer
Does anyone have any recommendation for clubs to join? Or even just extracurricular things to do? I just feel so lost as a transfer student sometimes. Seriously help please 🙏🏻
I loved my sorority but I didn’t fit in when I transferred in. No, I wasn’t one of those rush here & transfer into top tier, Alabama wasn’t on my radar in HS. Also dues are really expensive here and I couldn’t find a job to pay for them. :(((
thanks, I’m just trying to enjoy my last 3 semesters here

Dance marathon. Do it. You will love it. You can be involved with the organization year round orjust do the marathon in February. It's great.
Every major has a club and most are pretty fun. You can also attend gymnastics, basketball and baseball events this spring
Church of the Highlands has tons of activities and welcomes new friends and ones who come alone. RUF on campus is supportive if you join as well as every church but particularly capstone, Calgary and highlands. Lots to do!

Join any of the Old Row sororities which are just clubs of the same girls who were friends in the SAME high schools in Alabama, these are pseudo- sororities that can be more accurately described as clubs for girls who want to act like they are still in high school.

I think this can be used to help someone positively instead of using it for rush purposes. But above is correct in that it is very hard to transfer into a cliquey sorority &certain ones are warmer. I think there are welcoming OR chapters and ones who aren't. I'll leave it at that.
Ideas above for clubs are great. I would go to the Spring Get on Board day which will be in January and look into the dance marathon for sure.
