are oversized shorts and norts still a thing?

2 years ago I tagged along on my brothers college visit here. I think that was the height of this trend. He ended going elsewhere but I am applying here and it in my top 3.
Is this style going out here? When I recently toured Vandy it was not a thing there and at Georgia I saw sorority girls who wore that and a bunch who did not.
I am really really short (5'0) and this looks so stupid on me.

To OP: yes it is a thing, plenty of go
Girls wear lulus, legging, nike blah. You will embrace it if you come here. Also no one will question you for what you are wearing to class

Yes it is and I hate it. At least it is winter and I can wear cute sweaters and boots with my leggings.
