In all honesty i would've transferred schools by now if i weren't in one. Greek life is too important on this campus to not be involved in it

It's true that the majority of the school isn't Greek, but honestly a lot of that majority is kind of out of the mainstream socially. If you don't rush or you get cut, that's basically the scene you're dealing with if you don't go to open parties, etc.

There was a girl on my hall who rushed and had everything going for her: pretty, smart, involved, NR legacy, sweet, recs to every house. For some reason, though, she fell through the cracks and got completely released before pref.

She seemed to deal with it fine, but over the course of a year she completely changed her personality, appearance, even the way she talked, and morphed into an "ironic" looking hipster. Eventually, we figured out that she had started dating a guy from Mallet and began hanging out there.

Her BFF from high school pledged OR but told me she had made an effort to include her in stuff. It was the other girl, though, who ended up blocking her on social media, walking past her without speaking when they would run into each other, etc.

Looking back, not only did she not deal well with getting cut, she was super bitter about it and dealt with the disappointment by becoming somebody else. We all rolled our eyes, though, because she was such a poser and this so obviously wasn't who she really was.

You're going to be fine.
I was a GDI my first year and had the time of my life. You can still go to parties and have a diverse friend group. Plenty of my friends from freshmen year are GDI and have an activie social life and are very involved in campus.

That being said I did rush my sophomore year. I did this because Greek life looked like a great time and it is. If you can't rush because of finically reason I totally get that it was the same for me. But if you just think you're not the sorority girl type for for it.

At the end of the day GDIs are like Greek. There's is every type of person and. I'd like to think that just beacuse they're GDI doesn't mean anything about them.

However I would recommend if you can't rush to try to do a GDI equivalent, like if you're in the honors college Alabama action.

In response, how do you "deal with getting cut"? How petty, insensitive and immature can you be! Young 18-year-old girls coming to college for the fist time are so excited and insecure at the same time. When they are heavily cut in rush, it is devastating and life-changing. Many times it is very unfair. This ruins college careers, families, dreams, scholarships, etc. Please be careful about being so mean. Your words go further than you think.
