your fraternity ranks/suggestions

I'm really interested in going to Alabama, and several of those reasons include the great Greek Life and sports programs. I know plenty of SAE and SX guys, but my biggest issue is that I'm from North Carolina and I'd be completely out of water in Tuscaloosa. What do y'all suggest would fit me? I'd like to join a top tier, but I realize it may be difficult considering I'm not a legacy nor am I very wealthy (upper middle)

a house that chooses its members based on how rich they are, and the really good houses are comfortable enought to choose kids who are good guys and fun to be around
