Why did Pi Phi just publish a bid list... I thought that was looked down upon?

It's not really "looked down upon", it's just gone out of style for a mixture of security reasons and convenience. In the age of social media, all a church lady or family friend or rec writer has to do is shoot you an email or find you on Facebook and they can know your house within minutes. I'm guessing they published it because alumnae inquired or something.

I think it is smart to demonstrate their geographic diversity, which is a strength for them.

Al.com used to post a full bid list every year until 2015 I think? It just got phased out for security reasons and it's much easier to look on Facebook/insta if someone's curious about where a girl ended up. A lot of sororities around the country still keep lists of their entire chapter on their website which I find a little odd.

I don't like the idea of publishing that many full names online for anyone to see and if I were a PBP pledge I might be a little weary rn, BUT I do think it's interesting to see how many girls were legacies compared to my house.

@Bidlists

What if the just posted the pledge class numbers, Legacy numbers, and cities? No actual names. That gives us information without actual names.

I wish that a sorority I cared about did this.

Most of y'all are too young to remember this (showing my age here -- 2nd year law student and sorority recruitment advisor for my chapter, so I have to be on here occasionally), but the irony in all of this is that a former Pi Phi member (my freshman year roommate) is part of the reason AL.com stopped posting bid lists. A stalker found her name online a few years ago, and he reportedly showed up at her sorority house. It was creepy.
I definitely understand why people would want to post/see bid lists, but today's world is sad, and it's actually kind of dangerous.
