why

Why are some actives disinterested in Greek life yet still pay thousands of dollars a year to be a part of it? Speaking from experience, my big is very standoffish towards me. We met the first time during big/little reveal and we only briefly spoke a few times after that. She isn't really super excited about anything our house does and whenever I see her at an event she always looks/acts miserable. She has a lot of friends in the house so she's doing fine socially, they all hang out outside of doing sorority stuff so it's not like that's the glue that's keeping them together. I've noticed this with a few other actives in my house (and others), they don't really care about anything Greek related and it seems to burden them when they're required to do something.
My point is that why do girls do this? If they're not happy in a house then why do they stay? Also I'm in a NR house that's not really known for anything special so it's not like they have a certain "status" by repping our letters...
Opinions?

I think they're probably still attached to their letters. I'm a senior and I feel like some of my friends and social interactions would be different if I did drop. And yeah i hate paying dues and i wish i didnt have required chapter and such but i still feel like my last year here wouldnt be complere without still being in my organization.
