syracuse triad

by: PNM

UA is one of the few campuses with all 3 members of the Syracuse Triad (AP 1872, GPB 1874, & AGD 1904). These 3 formed at Syracuse University. I know AP is relatively new to UA- but as UA is all about traditions, how is this celebrated on campus? (I'm a legacy to all 3 but will not be going to all 3 today)

Nobody cares. KAT and AXO were both founded at DePaw. ADPi and PM were both founded at Mercer. We have an incomplete Farmville Four. Nobody cares.

I understand you are tired and cranky, @Active, so please understand that I am tired too and that it was a phone typo. Peace.

A PMN asked a legitimate question. You weren't too tired to respond! Two posters responded that no one cares (at least your word choices a little better). I'd never heard of this Triad either and I'm not in any of those houses but there's not a thing wrong with her asking the question. Obviously she cares so yes, someone cares. Hopefully she'll find out on Bid day or soon. It would be nice if we could all treat each other respectfully. The week isn't over. Be nice!

'Nobody cares' is a legit answer to her legit question. It is not celebrated here at all, which is what she asked. Calm your ass down and you can get off greekrank yourself lmao.

Really? It's a "thing." Google it. I respect alums- we wouldn't have houses and sisterhoods and recruitments without our founders, founding chapters, and alums. Anyway, it was just a question. No need to be rude. Are you like this to each other all the time of just during recruitment?

no one really cares? Why does it matter what school certain chapters were formed at? lol Every chapter has history and alums that started it all. For you to ask about ones started at syracuse is incredibly random... lol

By: um
by: Active

It's not random- all 3 of these houses are at UA- when all 3 are here and that makes it a Triad. Don't' talk down to PNM's. We have some dumb actives but we aren't all that way! She just asked a question.

Please don't feel bad about your question. It shows you we're interested enough to know histories of three houses we have. That's commendable.

Ok. It would be another opportunity for a new tradition- another party or formal each year. I think it's a good idea after looking it up.

What about Kappa and Pi Phi? Before any alum starts getting cranky, I know Monmouth formal is a thing at a lot of schools. Do they do it here? Didn't want to ask about another sorority during parties.

Good question again. I'm not sure- I did a quick google search and found Monmouth Dup but I'm not sure if KKG and PBP at UA Celebrate. Can any KKGs or PBPs answer this question?

For all sororities, I'm glad this PNM brought this up- it's a tradition at other schools- for some of you- yes, another chance to party!- and it would help chapters get to know each other.

This is true but there are no longer sororities at Wesleyan and both chapters are at Mercer.

Literally no idea why this is relevant. Chapters typically started in the north because women were more accepted at college there than in the south. Many of the earliest chapters founders knew each other even if they were at different schools. Here's a list of where all the chapters were founded even though its totally irrelevant for rush and I still dont understand why we're talking about it. Also sorry if any of this is wrong - it was a super fast google search.

AXO - De Pauw (IN)
ADPi - Wesleyan (GA)
AGD - Syracuse (NY)
AOPi - Barnard (NY)
APhi - Syracuse (NY)
XO - Arkansas
DDD - Boston (MA)
DG - Lewis School for Girls (MS)
DZ - Miami Ohio (OH)
GPhi - Syracuse (NY)
KAT - DePauw (IN)
KD - Longwood (VA)
KKG - Monmouth (IL)
PM - Wesleyan (GA)
PBP - Monmouth (IL)
ZTA - Longwood (VA)

AXO and KAT
PBP and KKG Monmouth Duo
PM and ADP
AP, GPB, & AGD Syracuse Triad

Ex of how we can use this- directly from Kapoa's wiki page-

"On campuses with Pi Beta Phi and Kappa Kappa Gamma chapters, the groups often hold joint social and philanthropic events."

I mean that could be cute but I highly doubt it would ever happen on campus lol Girls here really dont care about these things. History is cool but holding a joint philanthropy just because we were founded at the same school? nah.

@?

Why? Because there's more money in numbers. Get together with Triad houses and have a philanthropy event- split it three ways. Make it a grand event. Make it a weeklong event that everyone on campus can participate in. Have a formal to celebrate it.

I honestly had no clue about this until I read this post. MY house is part of a duo and not the Triad but I plan to bring this up to our President. I think it's a great idea!

Let it go with this dumb triad. Those three houses are all awkward and even if they tried to do a joint philanthropy event, no one would go.

KKG and Pi Phi wouldn't do anything together either.

Each house does its own philanthropy and that has worked just fine for over 100 years.

While perhaps realistic based on these nasty replies, that's a negative outlook. Fortunately some of us can find ways to try and make things even better.

Why are people still commenting on this? Alpha Phi, gamma Phi and AGD don't even like each other. No way in hell they're going to throw a joint party.

That's hook should be embarrassed to have produced those 3 sororities.
