P.S. Before anyone accuses me of being ungrateful, I didn't hate my legacy house, I just had some strange conversations, and I don't really feel like I'm their type. I"m honestly surprised they kept me around this long. I really liked the other four houses better.

The information you have about knowing who cuts you is correct. If you get ABD back you wont know about E at all unless you only have 2 houses and E is not one of them. Kudos for thinking for yourself and GL.

Your mom will likely go on blast mode with national if she thinks you were dropped this late into Rush. As a courtesy, you would be evaluated and dropped no later than Philanthropy.

You won't know if they aren't on your schedule because they released you or because your pref schedule filled up before their invitation. BUT- depending on which group - your mom might know that her chapter did not release you if she didn't get a call tonight. I don't know every chapter's policy regarding legacies but my chapter has to call the legacy's relative and let them know she'll be released in the AM before every round. I've heard that occasionally legacies will cut us and tell their moms/ sisters that we cut them and then that's an awkward phone call that mom/sister makes to the house when they find out the legacy lied to them....


You're doing the right thing by following your heart but don't do the wrong thing by lying to your mom.

Be honest with your mom. She's been there and made her own decisions. If you tell her you didn't like your legacy house, surely she'll love you enough that she'll be glad you had 4 other houses you liked more. Don't sell your mom short.

Thanks to everyone for the information and advice! Just an FYI, I never intended to lie to my mom, I just figured that I'd wait until this morning to see what happened before I said anything. She already knew that I wasn't super excited about my legacy house, but she wanted me to give them every chance.

As it turns out, I ended up with A, B, and C, which I'm thrilled for. I don't know if E dropped me or I dropped them, but my Mom didn't get a call from anyone. I did call my Mom this morning to let her know that E wasn't an option anymore, and she took it okay. She does want me to be happy, but she really wanted me to be happy in E. Pretty sure she'll be fine. I have a little sister, so she's got another shot. Haha.

Thanks again! I've had one party already, and two this afternoon. Ranking is going to be hard, but it's a good problem to have!
