honest question about phi mu

by: Confused

So I'm narrowing down to my three and one of them might be Phi Mu. My concern is that they seem so "pageanty" and done up all the time. I like to dress up when I go out, but I also love lounging in comfy clothes and don't mind being seen in public with no makeup. My other top choices are XO, KKG and PBP and I feel like I could relax and be myself with those girls more.. Does PM ever not look so over done? Do they chill? Ever spotted without makeup? Can you set foot in their house without being fully made up?

Do my other houses - XO, KKG and PBP sound like they would be a better match for me? I've narrowed it down to these 4 but weighing pros and cons to get to 3. Thanks y'all!

Look at their Facebook and insta. They aren't polished all the time (like class for example).

They are more chill for class but they have a 2/3 rule. Like you can't go to class with wet hair, no makeup, and in sweats. I have a friend who's a Phi Mu and she's really such a nice girl, not bashing them, and she loves her chapter, but she does always take the time to at least put on some mascara or make her hair neat before going to the house. If you're worried about dressing up then honestly yes the other three sound like a better fit but if you want to get more into looking put together more frequently than Phi Mu is a wonderful house.

You may also want to look around at the other PNMs....those will be your sisters that you will spend 4 years with, not necessarily the older girls.

Honestly not bashing and this could be wrong, but I have not always heard great things about their sisterhood. Of the very limited information you gave us it feels like KKG should be giving some strong consideration

I have some good friends who are Phi Mu. They are a less casual than other sororities. They often felt they couldn't go to the house until they got dressed up. If they weren't dressed cute and in full makeup they felt like they got weird looks like they weren't welcome in the living room. It isn't a dig a phi mu. I thought they always looked great, it is just that they are a little more concerned about how they look.

If you have to come on here and ask a question about this topic on pmu, you should pref somewhere else cause you obviously have not gotten to know them

PM girls dress down just like everyone else. Some don't, but there are girls like that in every house. Go with your gut, and pick those houses. If you let the noise influence your choice, you will regret it.

You should narrow the houses down based on how you feel emotionally... not based on what you need to look like for class. phi mu is a great house and if you feel that you can see yourself there then you should take that into heavy consideration because all houses have rules for what you need to dress and act like when you're in public.

rush is where you feel you belong. please understand that.
