dropped?

by: Rush17

I heard if a house asks your name again before you leave, that means they are going to drop you. Is this true?

This question was asked like yesterday... But to ease your mind, it all depends. Sometimes an active will pick up the wrong girl at the door so it throws things off. She knew she was supposed to have Jane Doe from Mobile Alabama but if she ended up not picked up the PNM she was assigned to and instead spoke to a girl she wan't originally assigned to then she doesn't know you. She may need to ask your name before you leave.

It could also mean that the active you spoke to who was matched with you was just ditzy and forgot your name.

It could also mean that the active you spoke to was really impressed with you and needed to hear your name again to help remember.

Overall, it depends. You'll never really know why this and that happen during rush. Relax and enjoy everything while you can.

What if it wasn't the girl that you were matched with? What if it was one of the girls that popped in throughout the party that asked for your name at the end? I mean don't they all know they're going to be talking to you?

It means nothing. Over the last 3 days, I've talked to 40+ girls. I have to vote on them directly after the party, and to do that, I need to know their name, so I ask again right before we leave. It happens to every single girl, good or bad.

Seriously it can mean all of the above. At one house last year they asked my name before I left IWTs and I was dropped, and while I was at my current house for philanthropy I got asked before I left and ended up in what I know now is the "tops" area for sisterhood. It also could just be they picked up the wrong girl or want to make sure they have your last name right when they go to vote. If you aren't voted on at all you automatically go to the next Roy d unless maybe you're a grade risk.

What do you mean if you aren't voted on, you automatically go to the next round? That happens?

I think it means they want to know your last name!

If you talked to someone, they will rate you. And getting your name right is part of that. Good or bad or whatever, getting your name means they will rate the correct person.

We don't tell you in some secret code that we're going to drop you. Not every little thing means something.

I thought it was a good sign to ask for your full name

UPDATE: I can confirm this as true for certain houses because I did not receive an invite back for this round after those houses asked for my name again.

No. You are misunderstood. Asking for your name doesn't mean they're going to drop you. They're asking for your name so they can remember to vote on you. They could have given you a good score, or they could have given you a bad score. In this case, they gave you a bad score.

My house uses the name thing as a way to let the other actives know to give you a low score so you will be dropped. The actives know your name already. They've known for months and they are reminded again before each party. There's secret codes in every house, but not all are the name thing.

@active is a troll. Don't listen to her.

We aren't some superhuman beings who can memorize 2000 different names. Sometimes we forget and need to ask. All it means is that we want to confirm your name so we remember you. Whether we are remembering to vote poorly or good on you is completely dependent on each situation.

There are no secret codes. At least none that we use around PNMs.
