rushing and about to start modeling??

by: Wondering

All this summer I have been doing lots of modeling and fashion shows in Nashville, Atlanta, and for photographers, and will sign with a modeling agency by Christmas. Should I bring up my modeling summer or just not bring it up? I don't want to come off as attention seeking or snobby!!

I mean if it comes up then yeah you should bring it up... But don't push it. Like don't just say "yeah I've been modeling recently" when an active asked you a question about nothing related. On that same note, talk up your other good characteristics too... When an active asks you what you did in high school/what your hobbies are/what you did this summer of course you should tell them that you've been modeling for local shows but don't only talk about that. I'm sure you did other stuff and no one wants to hear you bragging about how pretty you are.

Yeah I wasn't planning on bragging on myself but it is a great accomplishment to mention. I don't really like to bring it up anyway because it can come off across the way you mentioned without me meaning it too. I was going to go with more of my other hobbies and accomplishments and then maybe bringing it up depending on the conversation. Thanks for the help!!

It sounds like it's an important part of your life and something you enjoy. When actives ask what your hobbies are you should say you love fashion and modeling, when they ask what you did this summer you can say that you've participated in some fashion shows and it's something you really enjoy. I think your self-awareness that this may come off as attention-seeking or snobby is WONDERFUL. You are conscious of your image and that bodes well for recruitment. Just be humble, don't hype yourself up but emphasize what you enjoy about modeling/fashion shows and why.

I'm sure this will get some downvotes and I'm sure some people will advise you play it safe rather than be sorry but honestly... This sounds like a serious hobby for you and you don't want to pledge a house that is unsupportive of your passions. Same goes for YouTube/blogging/whatever. You want sisters that picked you BECAUSE of who you are, not in spite of it. If this is something you are serious about then please talk about it. We are trying to get to know you.

It WILL come up. Actives will ask you about your summer and you should be honest.

However, I hope your "modeling" is actually quality stuff, and something you're proud of, because we will be looking it up on the internet once you tell us.

It's not anything inappropriate like nudity or bikini. Most of it is modeling at the Atlanta Mart for different designers or headshot type things. Nothing bad!!

There are other models in houses. They will probably know of you through that, and you probably have a look they can pick up on.

Asking the question gives a reasonable sense that you are self aware and can "judge" the reaction of the audience. If it comes up in reasonable conversation and you get an "Oh that's exciting tell me more reaction" talk freely. If you get "disinterest" move on in the conversation

It's a shame some may react negatively, but honestly some Amy.

So I guess there isn't "a single" answer.

I wouldn't jump right to "expect to be under contract by December". A response to "What did you did this summer?", could be went on vacation, hung out with friends, and did some work as a model at Atlanta Mart.

Leave it at that and see if the active wants to run with it. \n\n\n\n\n
