Honestly, you sound like 1,000 other girls coming through rush this year... Pretty and good grades? Okay and? I'm not trying to be mean but you need to be more humble. If you have this sort of "I'm too good for the NR and bottom houses" mentality then you're going to be very shocked when your schedule is comprised of most of them and considering it seems like you don't have too much else to offer, it seems like that's the path you're headed (not that being NR/in a bottom house is bad).

All houses here are amazing and you would be lucky to get a bid from any of them. Maybe the girls you know genuinely felt happy in them and chose them over the conventional higher ranked houses. Maybe the girls you know were left with bottom houses after rush but chose to stick through it and make the best of the opportunity. Maybe the girls you know had friends in the house prior to rush and wanted to be with them. There are hundreds of possibilities... But you're going to drive yourself crazy if you constantly compare yourself to them and all other girls.

Rush and do what's best for you. Not everything that glitters is gold, meaning that a house may seem like the perfect fit for you but you may come through rush and feel drastically different. Every house offers girls memories that will last a lifetime. Pledge the house you feel most comfortable in because when you're walking around campus ranks don't matter. Good luck and stay humble.

Old row girls looooove to say how they also have lots of OOS girls, but where are those OOS girls coming from? Are they from New York/Illinois/Pennsylvania? Or are they from Texas/Mississippi/Georgia? Does your executive council have more than one non-southern girl? Does your standards board treat their high school besties the same way they treat the girls from New Jersey?

Some far OOS girls join old row and are EXTREMELY happy there. Good for them. But the girl from Seattle is different than the girl from Starkville even though they are both technically "out of state" so let's not put all OOS girls into the same boat.

Yes. Those girls are from New Jersey, Ney York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, etc...is that far enough out of state?
They are OR. They are exec. They are happy. So stop already.

PNM, ask when you come through if the house has girls from your state. YOU WILL MEET THEM AND SEE.

If you are making your college decision based upon the crap on this website, then I pity you.
Especially for the next month, people posting are using scare tactics to hope to sway good OOS girls to lower houses. Or in your case, away from UA altogether.

I really think you are overestimating our flaws and underestimating everyone else's. I applied to several public schools further north with strong but 'chill' Greek systems and now have friends at them. There are certain sororities at EVERY public university known for taking girls from such-and-such suburb or such-and-such region. At schools with deferred recruitment there are sororities known for taking girls from ABC activity and XYZ sport. This happens because people go where they are familiar with and you are predisposed to be more open to those houses just like those houses are going to be more open to you.

If you want a big Greek system then you have to accept that a lot of research goes into recruitment and it is easier to research the girls you know versus the girls you don't. No one thinks less of you because you are from OOS and no one is going to be like "oh, we should drop you because you are from Maine" (or wherever) but if we are deciding between you and another girl with the exact same resume as you, except we have active sisters who can promise us the other girl is a solid match but all we have for you is some recs and your social media, then YES, we are probably gonna lean towards the other girl.

It is unfortunate but it is a side effect of having so many girls coming through recruitment. If you don't like it at Alabama you are not going to like it at any major public university. Just a head's up.

You won't be! This is a stupid attempt for insecure, jealous girls to try and get top oos girls! Get your recs have good grades and be active in hs. You underestimate the work we and our alumna do each year in all of our pnm states. Don't think for 1 minute the top sororities go blindly into rush week.

You're nuts. If you would actually let ANY Greek issue help you choose your school, you aren't ready to go to college. The average person on campus doesn't care where you are from.

It's not that hard. If you're basing your decisions, even a small amount, on rush, you're not going to last anyway.
