how do houses tell if you were "popular in hs?"
by: wonderingA lot of threads say how some houses look for girls that were popular in high school, but if you're from OOS, how could they possibly tell if you were popular? Just by your social media and personality?

@No I think you meant to say from her social resume, in house connect if she has one, certain prominent clubs or affiliations, and awards.

Houses that have members who already know girls is how they know if a girl is popular. Being accomplished and having a good resume is not the same thing as being popular. You also can't tell from talking to a girl for the first time at a rush party if she was 'popular' in high school, and at that point it doesn't really matter; this is not high school any more. We are open minded to girls we don't already know personally; that's why we have recruitment.

Last reply is 100% correct. At my high school the popular girls were marginally involved with solid but not stellar grades. Plenty of girls with massive accomplishments - whether it be setting records at their sport, maintaining a 4.0+ GPA, being talented artists, leading local volunteer efforts, whatever - were not popular in high school and yet were EXCELLENT PNMs. Outside of a select few houses and a select few places, no one is going to care if you were the queen bee if you have a 3.2 and 0 involvement, just like we won't care that you were a loner/weirdo if you have a solid resume and can hold a conversation.

Relax it's fine if you all were not the most popular girl in high school or were not a part of the insiders crowds, but trust me the type of popular girls that particular houses go after WERE involved, held positions on council, won at least 3 titles, had a solid history of sport/interest club activities, volunteered since at least middle school, and their academic record is very competitive. But every house needs diverse girls so stop obsessing over popularity and posting about your part of the country's cheer team (that's not it).

this is why being in state/having connections is so highly valued, for better or for worse. if you're connected to girls in the houses, they know if you were well liked, were a mean girl, were really popular, or will be a reputation risk. I'm from CT and had a strong resume of activities, including being on my school's varsity cheerleading team, but I know that the cheerleading team at my school was definitely not considered the popular, stereotypical cheerleaders, which is why I laugh when I see houses or "perfect pnms" described as "great grades, cheerleader..." because if I was in-state, everyone would know I wasn't super popular just because I was a cheerleader. but since I was so oos, no one knew if I was miss popularity or some loner. just carry yourself with confidence and that will say enough!

No it doesn't. There's pretty much a check list. You're either popular or your not. It's all the same everywhere, whether you are in Alabama or not.
