to rush or not to rush?

by: blackgirlrushing

I'm transferring to Alabama and want to rush but I don't want to rush NPHC. I have great grades, involved in clubs, and I've been told I look like Gabrielle Union. Would I be welcomed by the sororities or should I just forget it. If I were to participate which ones should I check out?

Alabama has pretty much the most traditional Greek system left anymore, and the rich white stereotype literally isn't more true anywhere else (although being African American seems to make it even harder than being anything else for some reason). This'll probably be more phased out in years to come, but you'd have a much better chance even at Ole Miss, Georgia or South Carolina for instance.

There are many african-american girls in houses at Alabama. If you have what they are looking for, they will keep you around!! Race isn't as big of a problem as it sounds like on greek rank. Definitely rush, I highly doubt you will regret it even if you end up dropping.

Go for it! You'll have plenty of houses to choose from.
