I would think that the social aspects of both Phi Mu and Alpha Chi would be very similar (when it comes to parties, swaps, what fraternities they hang out with the most etc.), since they have a lot of the same type of girls, and have similar repuations, if you will. They probably have similar favorites in both fraternities and PNMs. So I guess you just have to find out which one feels the more right for you, and which girls you get along with the most during rush. But I'm pretty sure they can both offer you the same type of experience. Any sorority probably could, for that matter. It is what you make of it.

From the sounds of it you won't get into either one....you may not get into any of the sororities at Alabama. You have a terrible attitude and honestly you sound so full of yourself. Most top notch pnms don't come on this site already assuming that they are going to be in a top sorority. They know that they have already been contacted by many sororities and invited to many teas and parties. This doesn't sound like you. So just relax and hope that you get invited back to more than the minimum first round.

Apparently you think you'll have your pick.
You're wrong.

PNM...I'm an Old Row sorority alum, and while I won't say exactly which sorority, it is one of the two you're most interested in. I do a lot of recommendations for young women going through Alabama recruitment. Ditto for my friends who are NPC sorority alumnae. We're swamped every summer sending recs across the SEC -- Alabama is one of the top schools we contact on behalf of PNMs.
I assume you know that approximately 2000 PNMs took part in Alabama rush Fall '12 and that you're heading into one of the nation's most competitive recruitments. Even if you're "the total package PNM," A LOT of your fellow PNMs will be too, and all will want a bid as much as you do.
I say this nicely: the nature of your questions, top tier focus and comments like "I plan to take both to pref" raises red flags. I see this mindset every year and it usually leads to disappointing results. Pride DOES goeth before the fall, so reel it in, dear. Open your mind to all chapters, be gracious, present your best self and realize...if you love a sorority and indicate your desire for an invite back, they will decide if that happens.
Have you thought about recommendations? Without them, you won't make it past early parties no matter how awesome your awesomeness is. Even though we don't send them until summer, it's not too early to seek alumnae willing to help you. I've already had five Bama PNMs for Fall '13 reach out to me and it's barely mid-January.
All the best to you!

If you want those houses, you better plan to stay in Alabama forever. Most places across the US, those houses are either the lowest on campus or in the lowest tier. With all those houses to choose from, maybe you should look at some others that have better national reps.

I'm going to go ahead and guess you're not actually old row, or that you don't actually go here. To put down two houses and then tell a pnm to "be skinny" is screwed up. I am honestly tired of this website and I wish that girls would stop looking at it.
PS- There is no such school as "the university of auburn", its Auburn University and everyone just calls it Auburn down here.
