I'm in OR but honestly good on DZ. Even including early graduates that number is much better than I think a lot of people would have guessed.

ur not from an old row house, you're a dz. just stop finding any way to self rank, it's pathetic.

Absolutely. DZ is the big outlier in this data and surprisingly so unless they are enforcing standards different than other houses. But I think give them credit for something good.

There's no clarification as to what these numbers include.... I highly doubt these are just the raw numbers of just girls who dropped this past school year. That being said, you can't talk on behalf of a chapter's character based off of these numbers. For all we know, DZ could have had no early graduates......

Maybe this is a good argument for going to Spring Rush instead of Fall. (Yes, I know. Don't kill me. It's just a thought.)

1. People, regardless of OOS or In State, who just came to Bama to party, and aren't also focused on grades, will be thinning out by then or their grades won't be good enough to Rush. They are gonna party whether they are in a sorority or not that first semester.

2. The houses will have a better idea of who people are, and can be more selective of their sisters.

3. Some people who think you HAVE to be Greek to have any kind of social life might find a non-Greek niche and decide it's not for them, after seeing Greeks around campus for the semester. That would probably be balanced by the people who might not have planned to go Greek, but decide to, though.

4. It might cut down on the sheer numbers that go through Recruitment. Especially if it's attached to a minimum GPA. This will stop the massive pledge classes.

No honestly, I'm a traditionalist to the core but spring rush is starting to look better and better. My house has to take a ton of grade risks to make quota even though we know they will not do well first semester. This would eliminate so much of that

Will not happen exactly bc it would Thin things out and reduce greek participation, which university does not want and now houses can't afford either (with the huge build out)

Well the point is we lose those girls anyway- if they're going to transfer the sorority is not going to keep them here. My house could lose about 100 girls before money would start to get tight so I think it's less of an issue than people think.

I agree though that it will never happen, you're right that the university wouldn't want it.

Why was everyone bashing PM for the girls that dropped when they are second best?

By: pnm
by: N

Bc "30 girls dropping PM" was obviously a stupid GR rumor

This is numbers from end of fall to end of spring. The phi mu pledges allegedly dropped in between bid day and the end of fall.

Graduations were not accounted for here, it is possible that part of the issue with APhi is that many of their girls strugge academically and had to go on to a 5th year and graduated at the end of fall semester. There is obviously a sisterhood issue and a big number of drops but unfortunately we can't see the graduation rate.

how do you know graduates were not accounted for??

You only have four years as an active. Even if you needed a fifth year you would have graduated from the sorority when you were supposed to have graduated from college.

Not necessarily. At least in mine, you can petition for a fifth year. So if you joined as a sophomore for example. If Alpha Phi does the same thing, they might have let some of their older members stay on and then graduate "early". Who knows. Hard to be one of the first members with all the growing pains.

WEIRD how the OP never clarified which numbers she used...

by: Well

I don't think it's weird, anyone can go to the fall 2016 and spring 2017 grade report, do some very basic math, and get the same exact numbers. I think it was actually pretty obvious where they got them

It's not weird because mission accomplished showing how bad new row is and how much better old row is. Very feew posts here don't have an agenda

Does anyone have the Fall numbers?

By: Fall

I don't think these numbers should include graduates. I wonder if some sororities included graduates and others didn't.

By: ?
by: No

All the sororities are required to submit the same information. They submit a roster of who is active after the fall semester and the university confirms

Okay wow so the OP never clarified which numbers she used...

So now I think it's just safe to assume she used the Spring total members and the Fall total members and just subtracted the two. However, the "drop" number DOES in fact include graduates, transfers, girls who got kicked out, etc. That being said, these numbers are skewed and the OP purposefully posted them with an agenda.

I'm SO sick of this fighting. Y'all will do anything to throw anyone under the bus and it's disgusting. If you want to talk about drop numbers that's 100% fine, but actually be honest... And btw, unless you're a member on exec you will never know the exact number of girls in your own house (let alone 15 other houses) who dropped your house just because they didn't like it.
