kappa makes no sense to me
by: Kappa
Kappa has one of the highest GPAs to pledge at 3.3 BUT one of the lower sorority GPAs overall. I personally know that the girls from my high school who pledged Kappa do not care much about their grades ( just a fact) so I am wondering why they would set themselves up to be in such a position.
They obviously are taking some below at 3.3. How do you get away with this and why do it?
Do sororities put individual members on a type of probation?

KD has that as their recommended gpa... that doesn't mean that they won't take sally sue with a 2.7 if her mom and her grand mommy we KDs and they donate a ton of $$$$$$ and may have a beach house in fairhope. It's all about what southern people you know and where you are putting your money sweetie. Same goes for any old row house sometimes

Spring 2017: 3.42
Fall 2016: 3.39
Spring 2016: 3.35
Fall 2015: 3.28
These numbers were taken directly from Greek Reports. You can look them up yourselves. Kappa is improving in grades. Does kappa have the highest GPA? No. And they won't be up there for a while. You have to weed out all the PCs that don't care about grades. It takes time. But to say that kappa isn't improving in grades is blatantly incorrect. If you look at Fall 2016 you will see that kappa had the fourth highest new member GPA - beating houses including Tri Delt, ADPi, and Phi Mu. Making the grade cut off at 3.3 did help them especially considering the new members did better in grades than houses that are known for having better grades.

At least research a little and give credit where it's due before you try to slander a house for trying to improve their gpa. This gpa requirement is new and it IS improving their average gpa... how are you really gonna complain about that. Pretty sure it's a national requirement too......

Don't think OP was saying anything except that if kappa wants to keep improving, they need to quit taking exceptions below the 3.3.
They are saying that is the minimum but a lot of the girls they want don't meet that.
I agree it's a little confusing what minimum means and I think that was the point.

I don't really understand why you have a problem with it. Who cares what they put as their recommended gpa in Greek chic?? It's a RECOMMENDED gpa. It's not a set in stone type of thing.
