I believe its usually about 80% gets their 1st choice, 15% gets 2nd and 5% gets 3rd but I may be wrong.

According to the NPC it's somewhere between 85-95% getting their first choice depending on the campus. They're actually trying to get pref round limited to only 2 parties instead of 3 nationwide because so few girls end up receiving a bid to their third choice house and so it just wastes time/resources for everyone involved in recruitment.

Percentages are not accurate because some people only had one house so of course they got first choice. I think 80% is way to high but who knows

I mean technically the percentages are correct if not a little misleading. 80% of PNMs get the house they list first on their pref card is probably a better way to word it. There's no telling what percentage of PNMs are actually happy with the house they get on bid day, I would bet it's in the 50s or 60s

Thought it was self explanatory that I meant 1st choice on pref card not first choice overall, sorry to confuse yall

I only had one house on pref and tbh I wasn't too thrilled either. I really, really wanted to go Greek though so I stuck with it. And it honestly took a few weeks for me to really start liking the sorority. The honest truth is that rush isn't always sunshine and happiness... A LOT of girls (from all houses) are disappointed on Bid Day. And I think this is a good reminded for you PNMs to give every house a chance because you never know what may be a blessing in disguise.

someone here just mentioned 50-60% of girls are actually happy on bid day and also some people here have mentioned girls crying on bid day too. what's up with that? is the number of upset girls really so high? i've watched bid day videos and videos of the bid day run on youtube to hype myself up and i never see anything like that so what happens to those girls? is it super awkward?

sorry for so many questions i just am having a hard time picturing that since everyone makes bid day out to be such a happy time! i'm far OOS and have no experience with sororities so i can't ask anyone else

Not everyone is over the moon on bid day. It's a long week full of impersonal conversations and the process doesn't always make sense. Some girls will make it to pref with two of their favorite houses and one they can't see themselves in and get the third, some PNMs with a 4.5 will open their card and see a house on the bottom of the grade report and be disappointed by that, etc.

Personally, my pref card had just one house that the other girls were dying to get off their lists and I honestly was feeling terrible about myself on bid day. It's extremely emotional for even the strongest girls. Not everyone's bid day is alpha chi and rainbows

I got my third choice and I was one of those girls crying on bid day (thankfully my rho chi put me in my place before I left to run to my house). I now know that getting my third choice was the biggest blessing because I would not have fit in in my first and second choice. I was more shocked than upset so after I got settled I realized I was in the right place and everything was more than fine.

Got my first choice because I only had one house on pref. I wasn't devastated but it definitely wasn't a house that I'd be super excited about during the week. After 3 years I completely love my house and honestly feel so blessed that I didn't end up in the houses I thought I wanted to be in.

Got my second choice after being bid promised to my first choice (which i wasn't even overly thrilled about) and I managed to hold it together till right after group pictures. I was the girl sobbing on bid day then. I guess it worked out though?? i still found my people

If you told me on IWT that I would end up in the house i am now I probably would've cried. But after sisterhood round there was literally no other house on the row I could see myself in. Don't give up on a house after one conversation. Keep your mind open all week as you talk to different girls during rush and bid day will likely be a better experience than if you're trying to write houses off your list all week.

THIS:
"I thinks some of that has to do more with the feeling of rejection from people you thought you connected with, rather than disappointment with their house."

IT'S NOT FUN:
To be dropped from houses that the day before you had great convos and tons of fun. Chapters make you feel so welcome, then they cut. The rejection hits. Even though you pick yourself up for the new day, in the back of your soul you wonder what's wrong with me?

that hit my core, so glad i never have to go through rush again

I had to call my mom crying after philanthropy cuts. I had been envisioning myself in a specific house for months and couldn't believe it when their name wasn't there. I know now though that that wasn't the place for me. But I was heartbroken. You just have to trust the system. Mutual selection is huge. Its great that you want them, but you want them to want you back.

I got my second choice but I knew deep down it was the one I actually wanted. I put a more "popular" house first and I am so happy I didn't end up there. You really do end up where you're meant to be. Also, you shouldn't pick houses based on popularity this isn't high school anymore.
