based on the swaps discussion.....

by: Why?

I was reading the Swaps discussion, and I have a question. I'm assuming that the reason Swaps happen at the fraternity house is because sororities can't have alcohol in their houses. Why is this, though?

Do the sororities ever have parties at their houses?

No, it's against all of their nationals policies.they rent out bars/event facilities for parties.

It also has to do with insurance policies. Like I know in house girls aren't allowed to have an alcohol in their rooms because (God forbid) if the house burnt down or something and they found remanence of alcohol then the insurance company doesn't have to cover damages.

I think it's a silly national panhellenic policy that started off in a very misogynistic way but it essentially all about insurance now. for nationals to change the policy, it would cost way too much in insurance. However, I believe a few sororities at Dartmouth have gone local because they thought the policy was ridiculous

Glad we don't have parties at our houses bc frat houses are disgusting and I like that our house is clean and nice lmao. I do think it's ridiculous that girls can't have any alcohol in the house though (I understand why from an insurance/ nationals point of view, but still)
