hoop earrings

Would hoop earrings be alright for one of the sisterhood days as long as they're not too big?

Yes, they should be fine. I think hoop earrings can actually be styled very well and can polish off an outfit. Just be careful with whatever dress and other accessories you pair it with though.

Yes, think Sheila Fajl hoops or yurman. They need to be at least moderately expensive.
