dress code

Ok so I am 5'10, a size 0 and it's really hard for me to find long enough dresses. All my shorts and dresses cover everything with plenty of room but it's not anywhere close to my knees. And before someone tries to say I can find appropriate dresses somewhere, I'm not wearing an old lady dress and I've looked everywhere. Will this be a big problem during rush? My parents don't think it's inappropriate length so if my dad doesn't I feel like it should be fine.

End of your middle fingertip is the perfect length or slightly below is usually the perfect length for a non frumpy look. There are people called seamstresses if you can't let down a hem or take it up yourself.

most of them are fingertip length or pretty close. I guess I could get the hem let down but I would really hate to do that to a $175 + dress for 5 dresses.

Dresses don't need to come down to your knees. I think a good point of reference is that if a dress ends or goes a little past your finger tips when you arms are by your side then it should be appropriate. This is a good reference because it works for every girl with any type of body (short, tall, average, etc).

Also, you can always get your clothes tailored. I know extending the hem of a dress can be a little harder but if you still can't find anything long enough then it's worth a shot to see if a tailor can do anything... Same with any girls who are shorter - having the hem taken up is very easily.

Fellow tall girl here, in my opinion, rush dresses don't need to be near your knee, just appropriate. The fingertip rule is usually a good one but I know for some tall girls with long arms that can still be tough. If your parents think it's appropriate and you would wear it to meet a new boyfriends parents then it should be totally fine.

... check this photo on the home page of Panhellenic, some girls are taller, some shorter, but everyone has a decent length for their size/height uapanhellenic.com/main.html

I want to also let you know that you don't necessarily have to get completely different dresses for every day. I know it kind of sounds weird to re-wear dresses for different days where you're going to be seeing different houses, but I mean if you really can't find an appropriate dress then this is always an option.

Especially for IWTs and philanthropy days, it's really not a big deal to re-wear. A girl in my rho chi group did that because she felt really really confident in her dress/shorts and she didn't want to risk looking worse one day versus another.

Yes, you can re-wear but plan on time for washing/pressing them as it's just so hot! ...it's good to have back-up choices ready.
