letters of recommendation
by: PNMI'm a pnm rushing this fall. None of the women in my family were Greek and everyone Greek I know is an active memeber still in college. I've emailed my local alumnae associations for very sorority, even ones all over the state of Florida and either they don't answer or they all say to get it from someone I know because they don't give out that information. So what am I supposed to do if I've actively been searching for Recs for months and can't seem to get any

Do your parents have LinkedIn accounts? If so, log in as them and search for each sororities' names. If they are connected to anyone in those sororities, they will show up at the top of the search results and then you can see who you (or they) would feel comfortable reaching out to.
What houses do you still need?

Getting recs can be tricky, especially if you don't know anyone immediate who's an alum. I know my hometown has a FB group and when I rushed I posted in there asking if anyone was an alum and I got a few responses. You kind of need to get creative when searching for recs - Ask employers, friends of friends, older high school friends, ask your mom to ask around, etc. BUT be careful. If you're too adamant about this kind of stuff, the person who writes your rec may not write you in a good light, especially if it's some stranger.
