lack of social media
by: PNM2017
I'm a Bama gal that will be going through Recruitment in August. I've got two Recs for each group, am a Legacy at one house (but the house has a ton of legacies usually, so I'm not counting on that), great grades (third in my class), activities, Homecoming Queen, popular in my school, lots of service work, etc. Basically, I'm probably a pretty standard PNM. I know people from school and cheer camp/dance classes who are already in sororities there, so I'm not a complete unknown.
That said, I've been reading through the threads, and one thing I've noticed is mention of Social Media. How important is this? I've never been big at putting my life on the internet, and I'm not obsessed with selfies. I don't have an Instagram, I don't use Snapchat, or have a Tumblr. I do have Facebook, but I rarely post anything to it. I also have a Youtube account, but it is almost exclusively dance related. Is this likely to hurt me?
I figure that at this point it's a little late to set up an Instagram or anything like that, but is my lack of social media going to cause most houses to cut me?

I don't think that a lack of social media will hurt you. You sound like a very well rounded PNM, so I'm sure any houses who tried to look you up on insta or something may have been disappointed when they couldn't find something. But you won't get cut from any houses because of this, especially considering your resume.
My advice: If you're not interested in social media, then you're not interested and that's fine. Some girls are super into it and some girls aren't. I think that making an insta would be fun, it's always cool to see what your friends are up to, and I don't think that it's ever too late to get into social media. So, if you feel like you're missing out then I'd say go ahead and get more into social media, but if you feel content then please don't feel pressured to do anything.
But to answer your original question, in my opinion, you won't get cut from a house because of this.
