be careful
by: JuniorAs a incoming junior, and ranked as a "top tier" by your little lists, i suggest y'all be careful. You're making all these lists and judgments that don't even matter in the long run. You could get into what you think now if a bottom tier but love it. All the sororities at Bama are amazing. There are things you'll love and hate about each. A bunch of my friends who are gorgeous and fun aren't in what y'all think are top tier. So don't talk poorly about something you could possibly end up in.

Especially for a lot of OOS girls I think that OR "top tier" houses aren't always the best fit (obviously totally depends on who you are, for a lot of OOS girls they're perfect fits), but I hate that some people look down on girls who chose a house that was a better fit for them. I imagine especially for Alabama girls there must be a lot of pressure to go OR and I think that it's sad that people come in totally set on only wanting to be in 5-6 houses

100% agree!!! Please pledge the house you feel at home in!!! Ranks literally vary from person to person, some people like this and other people like that.
Sorority life can be such a rewarding experience, but only if you let it. You're not going to be happy in a house that you feel like you need to keep up an act for.

On the first day of recruitment, I got my schedule and thought to myself "oh cool, my first house is one I don't really care about. I can practice my social skills for the houses I actually want to be in." Went into that house, LOVED it, and now I'm an active. Just goes to show that you should give every house a chance and forget preconceived notions.

coming from someone who chose a lower ranked NR house over an OR house (and absolutely loving every second of it) this is so true!! Coming from very far OOS, I wouldn't have the opportunities I do if I went with the OR house. Go in with an open mind and don't be closed off to any house.
