recruitment violations.

by: Anin

If I know a houses recruitment chair is telling their girls to dirty rush and I have proof, can/should I tell someone or do something? Like is it serious or should I just ignoring it.

Depends on the dirty rushing. If it's commenting on instas it's probably not worth it because Panhellenic looks for those things anyway. If it's like, having get togethers at an active or alums house then maybe. Also ask yourself if it's something that your house does and if you do don't bother

One trick I see some doing to get around the commenting stuff is an active posts a pick of a pnm on the active's insta and then al bunch of other actives comment on it. This is not commenting on the pnm's social media, but the pnm knows about it all because she is tagged. People have all kinds of ways they work within the rules but find little loopholes to still rush hard. I notice several houses do this little trick.
Maybe Panhellenic says that it okay. Idk.

How is that dirty rushing? Like, gosh i think we would be great as a big sister little sister combo? If so, That is just selling the relationship that they could have and building a bond. Looks like good aggressive recruiting. It would be gad of course if there is no sincerity, but heck half of it probably is just fluff talk. But if it happens after May 1 then there is dirty rushing if they are not already friends or something and the pnm is not on the active's contact list

If you consider that dirty rushing you need to get a life. Every house does it. Not a big deal.

@act, we must have been typing at the same time. This is my last one. Gotta go. But i think the thing about the no contact rule is that contact is allowed if there is a relationship already and the pnm is on the "ok to contact" list. So it would be good to know if this stuff is happening after May 1 or not and if so how far is it going and such.

Are you kidding me? Obviously this is still ongoing because the OP wouldn't have waited months to post about this... The no contact period began May 1st, meaning that NO actives should be engaging in any sort of contact with any PNMs. This means, NO comments on any social media platform, no private messages, no insinuating a guaranteed bid, no talking to a PNM if you see her in public... Obviously, these rules can be lifted if a PNM is approved to be on an active's necessary contact list, i.e. sisters, coworkers, etc.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I think that rush should be honest and fair. Shocking. By contacting PNMs and telling them how much you want them to be their little, you're clouding their mind... You're not "building a bond." You have nothing to build a bond over... The poor girl hasn't even stepped foot on campus, let along accepted a bid, and y'all are down their throats. Rush is about girls going where they want to, not being coerced into a house by a pack of actives. Smh.

It would be interesting if the OP could clarify whether she is on the contact list for actives or not, if it has been happening since May 1. I agree with the post that does not see this as a big deal. Like would it be dirty rushing to say, "gosh, you are so awesome I could see you as our recruiting chair someday because you are so XYZ". That is only a bid promise to somebody that does not understand girl talk. The only code that is happening there is that the house really is interested in the pnm and excited about her for rush.

So pnms, if you get this sort of talk, don't take it or yourself too seriously. Some houses come on pretty strong. You can still get cut by them first round. Don't count any chickens no matter how much smoke they are blowing at you.

No you're missing the point. Lol actives shouldn't be interacting with PNMs whatsoever between May 1st and Bid Day... No matter how light the talk is, it's still against the rules...

In my experience, the pnms that get this sort of commenting/talk from actives is somebody they already know really well from somewhere and somebody that has been around the house before like during football season. So they have bonds going already and these (usually old row) houses are just setting the hook a little before formal recruitment starts. Again, i do not see a dirty rushing thing here but it is pushing hard for sure and something that probably should be discouraged by recruitment chairs/risk officers. But then again, when one old row house does not do it the others do, then they can lose out on those hot pnms they so covet.

I think the person that is reporting insta comments is overdoing it and wasting judicial board's time if the commenting actives have the pnm on their list. The full blackout period does not start until workshops, I believe. So maybe the rules have changed a little since y'all were here. Might check the 2017 rules before providing opinions.

Rush has NEVER been honest and fair. I find it hilarious that you think because Panhellenic says no contact May 1 to Bid Day that houses actually adhere to that.

Please tell me you're not that gullible.

And just because XYZ house promises a girl they'll give her a bid. It doesn't mean she's only going to look at that one house. And if she does she's an idiot and not a girl that you would want anyway.

Lol y'all need to chill. Yes, I know that a lot of houses here don't adhere to rules set out by Panhellenic... But I think they should, that was my point. If your house operates on fake promises, vain compliments, and sneaky tricks to get girls to pledge, then great. All I'm saying is that I simply don't support that. The fact that you're so adamant about a laissez faire approach to Panhellenic rules tells a lot about your individual character.

I didn't say Bc I'm not trying to portray them in a bad light or start unnecessary drama. I just didn't think it was fair for the recruitment chair to actually tell girls to break rules so I was curious what to do
