I ended up with my second choice because I was a legacy at that house and I was really high on their bid list. I was on my first choice's list too but because of numbers and ratios I ended up at my second choice. I would say it happens to 10-20% of PNMs, so make sure you pick your pref houses wisely.
I can honestly say I would've been happy with any 3 of my pref houses and I ended up exactly where I am meant to be, and I freaking love it.

I got my third choice. I went into pref only wanting my first choice but still maximizing my options. So bid day I was pretty shocked. At first I was upset but I really do love my house. I could still see myself fitting in at my first choice but if I ended up in my second I probably would have dropped tbh. I definitely fit in the best in the house I ended up in and it really is the best place for me!!!

Honestly, I feel like I know more people who got their second/third choice than ones who got their first. Wasn't a legacy and got bid promised from my first choice, but got my second anyway. I was literally shocked opening my bid card. I guess it worked out, but yeahhh it's weird.

Off the top of my head, you statically have about an 80% chance of getting your first choice, a 15% chance of getting your 2nd choice, and a 5% chance of getting your 3rd choice (according to Panhellenic). If you don't get your first choice please go into your house with an open mind on bid day, i know so many girls who were so disappointed with who they got a bid from and ended up LOVING their house

I"m actually in a house that I originally didn't like going into rush. Through the week I started to get a better sense of the personality each sorority has, and my opinion on the house I'm in changed drastically. To any PNMs, please go in with an open mind. You can have houses you like but be open to something different. I love the house I'm in and I truly never thought I would.

I got my first choice, and even though I'm very glad that happened, I think if I had gotten my 3rd choice, it would have been a great opportunity to pursue a greater leadership role in the chapter and push it in a different direction. If you do end up with a chapter you weren't shooting for on bid day, especially if it's a struggling chapter, use it as an opportunity to help them grow into a chapter you love!

No one ever knows where they were on the bid list. Being a legacy won't pull you from your top choice if you are anywhere on their bid list. Also no one will ever know if they were a quota addition or not.
