Honestly don't get your heart set on KD, I don't know what GPA they cut at but I'd imagine anything below a 3.0 would be iffy. Realistically if you're pretty Zeta or APhi would probably be the ones most likely to keep you. Be prepared for quite a few cuts after the first round.

Yep. That gpa is a weight on you. You will get a bid somewhere is all your other attributes are good. Keep all options open.

There will be over 1,000 other girls in rush that are also very pretty and from old money that will have GPAs significantly higher than yours. You need to come in with realistic expectations.

1. People from actual old money never say they're from old money.
2. A 2.8 is going to cut back your options immensely. Honestly you may be left with DZ, GPhi, and APhi (they're all great houses but they tend to take the most grade risks). Old Row houses only take grade risks if they legit know the girl (i.e. you've been good friends with multiple actives since y'all were children). Unless you're mother/grandmother is a notable alum, you're going to have a hard time with any of the houses here.
3. Never set yourself on one house. TBH you sound very ignorant and I wouldn't want a girl who thinks being wealthy and pretty can get her through life. Your best option would be to wait until sophomore year to rush so that you can raise your GPA.

^^^ everything she said. Just wait until sophomore year when you can legit rush with a better GPA and have more options than just KD, Gamma Phi Beta and DZ.

supposedly all houses are cutting if you're below a 3.0 without extenuating circumstances this year. just a rumor but i wouldn't get set on any houses at a 2.8 anyway

I know a girl in my dorm this year that had a 2.8 and was cut. I have no idea how much money she has but she is very pretty. She made good friends with girls on our floor and after rush was over one of their houses was doing cob. A girl on our floor is was able to talk to their recruitment chair and the girl got a bid. She's so happy in her house and is constantly going out with her sisters. My advice is to actually go through with an open mind. I wouldn't act as if you're super deserving and when you get invited back to a house you should act truly grateful to be there. The good thing is, is that as you do get invited back you know that house saw something in you that made them want to stick their neck out and invite a grade risk back. Good luck, and work on the rest of your resume!

honey I hate to break this to you, since clearly you've never been told this in your life, but you are NOT special! You have connections and "old" money? You and probably half the PNMs coming through every year! If you really had these connections and all this money, you would KNOW how competitive rush is. Going to the same church as Suzy Sister in literally the oldest active sorority on our campus will NOT guarantee you a bid. Don't get me wrong, KD is not more competitive than any other chapter, but unless you're a legacy to like the national president, you're going to face some harsh cuts. PLEASE go in with an open mind, or maybe consider COB once you get your grades up.

I would wait until COB in spring and just focus on school first semester. Get a good start.

yep, wait.

A 2.8 in HS is going to be a problem for you at Bama, in general, not just in greek life. If you can only keep a 2.8 you will have issues here. You are definitely an academic risk to a house. You would do yourself the best by just learning how to study and keeping your priorities. Greek life is not that important and you can always go through as a soph or do cob once you get a good semester under your belt.

2.8 is low. It will be a hard week for you.
