KKG is harder to get into than KD. KD doesn't have the best reputation on campus, so not as desirable to PNMs.

Hardest: AXO, XO, PM and KKG

Easiest: DDD, AGD and KD

Kappa's harder, but feel free to broaden your horizons. This is college. Not high school.

Idk why people are saying Kappa is harder to get into. Kappa is one of the easier old row houses to get into. If you're not from AL, LA, MS, or somewhere like Atlanta, you can say bye to KD. They are extremely closed off to OOS girls, especially northern and western girls. Kappa is not (although their exec board is largely in state girls).

For someone without connections I think KKG is obviously easier because they're willing to extend bids to girls they haven't know their entire lives. For PNMs in general, KD might not be seen as that desirable, but the chapter as it stands is more closed minded.

KD is definitely more exclusive than Kappa, maybe 10% overall is from states other than AR, AL, TX, MS, etc.

How is KD harder to get into by Kappa is a significantly better house?

Depends on who you are. Small town Alabama girl whose mom was in Kappa Delta - KD is a breeze.

Larger hometown, wealthy girl whose family name means something - Kappa's easier.

But please look beyond just these two houses during rush. There are so many other options out there. Do your homework.

Kappa is not very dependent upon connections if you are OOS just as long as you have money (and grades since last year). But even though they're not based so much on personal connections like KD, AGD, XO, and DDD may be, they're still pretty tough to get into. They get a good number of sought after Southern socialites but they're also not completely old school, so OOS girls get that Southern flavor without going overboard.

My roommate from Chicago was dropped by KD and XO on the first day but went to pref with Kappa. They both get the most top AL girls, but that's only 1/3 of their PC. The rest are recruited very differently.

KD is over 1/2 OOS.... now I am not saying a lot of that is what they call "fillers" but they are almost 60 percent OOS

KD's half OOS are all randoms.... those are all fillers. And the other 20% in-state they don't really know are all filler, too. Their house is 10% girls they want. 30% girls AXO, KKG, XO , DDD and AGD didn't want and the rest no one even knows who the F they are.

Most of this OOS girls are not far out of state. Like someone else mentioned, they are mostly from states like MS or TX. They might have about the same number of OOS girls as other old row houses, but I think most old row houses have more geographic diversity than KD overall.

i'm from OOS and had a very good resume and recs going into rush. KD cut me after the first round and i ended up preffing KKG. I ended up in another house, but I've heard kkg is really focused on their Alabama girls so i'm not really sure

I'm from out of state (far oos) and I had kappa for pref, and there's a chance I would have had KD for pref too but I ranked them as my fourth favorite house and I got back my top 3 for pref so KD was dropped.
