If I really like a "lower tier" house due to family affiliation do I have a better chance of getting bid ( I plan on going in with being open minded, I just like their philanthropy and all that

Please don't pick a house because you like their philanthropy. You will spend .00000001% of your time helping with philanthropy and the rest with your sisters. So make your decision based on the sisters.

There are plenty of women on this campus that spend a GREAT deal more than .00000001% of their time helping with philanthropy, and it's a shame you don't. My passion for my house's philanthropy is one of the most meaningful things college has given me and bonding with sisters that feel the same has made my sorority experience.

If by family affiliation you mean "connection" then your chances of getting a bid do go up slightly. A lot of sororities do hold connections to a high importance. It's great that you're looking at the philanthropic side of these sororities though! Hope you have a great rush!

My house is active with our philanthropy every week! Some houses focus more on philanthropy than others
