My friend said that you usually get what you pref. Is this true?
Also, are many cuts made after 3rd round? How does that usually go down and how does the "voting" by the sororities take place. I want to know the secrets! :)

not necessarily I know plenty of girls who didn't get their first choice after pref! It just depends how high each house has you on their bid list after you pref them. If you want one house and put it first on your pref list, but your second choice has you higher on their bid list, you may get either or.

There is NOTHING you can do about it. About any of it. You can't affect chapter cuts, or how we choose who to invite back, or anything about the process. There is no strategy, no insider information, and no gaming the system. And no one is going to come on here and tell you any 'secrets,' Miss Greek Rank. So, PNM's, stop obsessing. All you need to know is that you should not decline any invitations during recruitment. That's it. So just stop.

I ended up in my third choice and I couldn't be happier. I thought that I really wanted my first and second choice but looking back I would not fit in with those houses. This probably means that they had me close to the top of their list. Somehow that "5%" chance worked out in my favor. So if you find yourself in my situation on bid day, don't worry and embrace that house with open arms.

Yes!! I know it's so cheesy to tell girls to "trust the system" but honestly you don't know a house until you're a part of it, so even if on bid day you are not happy go in with a good mindset because your 3rd choice may end up being the best thing that ever happened to you

If you only have one house for pref but you maximized your options throughout the process, you are 100% going to get that one house. Even if that house goes over quota. Even if that PNM is on the bottom of their last bid list. That is why houses will make big cuts prior to sisterhood and prefs to get girls they really think will fit in their house. My two houses that I loved that didn't invite me back were before sisterhood. My roommate was crushed before prefs. I actually was able to let go and give a chance to the other houses during sisterhood rounds ( I still had a full card for sisterhood and prefs and took a bid from my house which was a top 3 house for me all week). My roommate was stunned that her top three didn't pref her ( she had three houses to pref, but not her top three) and is still upset about it.

Yes, I understand how the system works. My point was that you could be part of the 80% who got their "first choice" and still have gotten your dead last choice.

I mean yes you are technically right but I think that is such a rare occurrence it doesn't make the statistic misleading. Generally the girls that only have one house for pref and HATE it are the girls that drop out before bid day.

I think it depends on what house you pledge. I'm sure in some houses the girls are just beside themselves to be there, but there are a lot of girls in my PC who only preffed our house and weren't thrilled about it at the time

This day you go from 8 to 3 houses. In my experience almost everyone in my rho chi got cut by at least 1 house they were hoping to pref. If you go to pref no matter how many houses you have and don't suicide in voting, you will automatically get one of the 3 houses you pref even if you're a quota extension. So basically if they pref you, you're somewhere on their bid list. So thats why cuts are high bc if they don't truly see you fitting in, this is the last chance to bail you out.
