Alpha O sounds like a black fraternity. AOPi sounds way cuter than Alpha O. And it helps confuse them with ADPi, which is a better house. It's a win-win for our little panda friends.

"Alpha O" is more of a non-Southern thing. By the same token, non-Southerners say "A-Chi-O" for AXO and think "Alpha Chi" is lame.

I'm from the North and I've literally never heard of AOII calling themselves 'Alpha O'. It sounds like they're trying to copy Alpha Chi.

I'm from the north and my sister is an AOPi in the midwest. I have literally never heard anyone say "Alpha O." It just feels like it's missing a word.

I'm from a state in the Midwest and at a lot of my friends schools aopi goes by alpha o. There's more than one nickname for a sorority. At some schools they'll say Alpha gam instead of agd too. It's really not as dramatic as y'all make it seem omg

It's kind of weird that they're trying to rebrand as Alpha O, but it's definitely a thing in other places. My cousin is in Alpha Phi at Michigan St. and they just call it "Phi" there. They're really popular up in Michigan so maybe AOPi has more popular chapters that call themselves Alpha O and that's why they're trying to rebrand? Not sure. Does anyone know where AOPi is a top house?

They have strong chapters at Georgia and Florida. My boyfriend is from the Baltimore area and says they're undisputed #1 at Towson, which is a big school but not super name-brand in itself.

AOPi seems to really struggle nationally with being middle/lower tier. I blame their nationals.

AOII has had a recent great 3 years of rush at Bama, and the new national president has helped tremendously! They needed to rebrand, update their image, work on their logo, and address long-term plans. They have a much needed new brand along with their great foundation, beautiful houses, and wonderful girls. They are back on the rise. Congrats AOII, Alpha O, and AOPI!
