I'd recommend a nice boutique that's unique and high-end, with not too many locations. a good example is Hemline, its very cute and in most major southern cities (mobile, new orleans, jackson, dallas, etc).
I'd avoid bigger chains like f21 and H&M just because they're noticeably cheap and poor quality.
I'd also probably avoid places like urban and free people, just because you're gonna see those same dresses on a lot of girls and they tend to air on the side of casual and revealing. However, these are way better than f21 or H&M.
Most importantly, I'd stay far far far away from Lilly. most actives wouldn't touch Lilly with a ten foot pole themselves (except for the planners lol), and you're 100% going to see the same Lilly dresses worn by lots of girls over the week, so you're better off without it. Lilly is expensive, and if you're gonna spend that kind of money on a dress, you should spend it on something unique that no one else is gonna wear. I know you think its the epitome of southern fashion, but trust me, just don't go there.

I know this sounds like a lot. I know you're thinking that you shouldn't have to go by these dumb arbitrary guidelines and you should wear what you want because you don't think we should judge you off of your clothes. Unfortunately, however, what you wear can make you or break you. If you're from OOS, like I was, there's a good chance that you don't know a single soul in any of the houses. there's a chance that when you walk through that door on open house that you're making your first impression. You have got to make sure you make a good first impression. If you don't know anyone and you don't have anyone fighting for you in the house, an inappropriate outfit can get you cut, even if you have the best personality and the best grades. I know it sucks, but it's the truth. girls care about this stuff. It's not secret that old row houses get to be a bit more selective than new row, and a cute outfit can be very good for your chances. I promise you that every girl on their lawns on bid day is gonna have spent a lot of effort planning their outfits for the week. Don't settle on this, girls. I know it sounds dumb, but its just how the cookie crumbles.

ok don't be dramatic. rush is a formal event that you should dress appropriately for. obviously you should want to be unique and stand out but not if that means wearing something that's inappropriate. rush isn't that different from a job interview or something like that.
