can i wear a romper on day 1?

by: Wondering

I know Greek chic says to wear a dress on day 1 with sandals but I have a really cute appropriate romper I want to wear! Should I just find a dress or do you think the romper would be okay??

Did you know Alpha Phis founders all wore rompers at their first initiation?

I don't know why the person above me was being so rude. As long as it's appropriate I'd say it's ok to wear it! I know it was hard for me to find that many dresses. Don't wear a romper every day, but one day for ice water tea is totally okay! Just remember the Greek chic is a guide you should follow about 98% of the time.

Here is the thing. I know it is probably super cute and appropriate. But what you are saying with your choice is that you are somebody that will do what you want, rather than follow guidance. That may help or hurt depending on what other pnms are doing and who you have exposure to. You take a risk by standing out and that risk can pay off or it may not. Your call.

Last year I saw a few girls wearing rompers for first round. They looked cute. I have no idea if it affected them in any way. I went the conservative route with my outfits (what I already had in my closet) and ended up with a full schedule (old and new row) and landed in an old row house.

Wear what you want.

Expect it will have consequences.

Not a hard equation.

I am sure it's super cute. but....

No. It's tacky. And won't help you with first impressions.

Yes, if you wish to be in a diverse new row chapter. Because you are saying this is what you wish!

A practical problem with rompers is that if girls bend over a little their behinds show. If you do wear one don't move in it like you're wearing shorts because a romper works like a really short dress.

OK, enough, y'all. I know someone who wore a romper first round, and she had a full schedule every day with a mix of old and new row. She got many compliments as well. As long as it's cute and appropriate you're good to go.

Assuming her "mix" consisted of such gems as Alpha Phi, Phi Mu and Zeta.

Rompers are NOT appropriate.

I think we see the bitter one is not a phi Mu zeta or alpha phi. They are now top on my list.

Shame on me? K mom. I'm just being honest with the OP. Rompers are NOT okay. She'll instantly be cut by a ton of houses for that. So it's actually nice of me to share that with her.

So go back to watching Law and Order reruns and sip your 1975 Cabernet and reflect on your glory days as a Zeta.
