That WAS the case but grandma's grandchildren either turned out unmotivated party girls or pledged elsewhere. I know tons of KD legacies who pledged elsewhere bc it is not the same KD anymore. Same with Kappa but they are more active on campus at least.
This is what led to the rise of chi o and alpha chi. For many years now, the top girls go elsewhere and things are no longer the same bc girls have higher goals than getting drunk and bragging about money. Like please, get some substance.

I would honestly be embarrassed to be a KD and it's sad what they've done to that chapter. Girls do not get along, MB and Mobile stick together or with girls they feel on their level, and the oos and middle class girls they take are just left bored and frustrated. They don't care about grades, only about drinking and clothes and money and boys and keep saying "on first" bc it's all they got. \n\n\n\n\n

I'm from a private school in Mobile, so on paper I look like a sure thing for KKG or KD. I am dropping both of them first round if I get the chance (not exactly sure who gets to cut who early on).
Both of those houses reputations have gone so far downhill (especially KD) that I want nothing to do with either of them. I want new experiences in college, not four more years of high school.
So please don't dump all of us Mobike girls in the same bucket because we're not all like that! My friends and I like to say "If the house has the word 'Kappa' in it, we're not interested!"

This post on MB and Mobile girls sticking together and the OOS feeling left out is definitely true at Kappa and KD. But wherever you have the MB and Mobile (and also certain parts of Montgomery) girls, they cluster because they are so similar, all have been going to Seaside and 30A their whole lives, do the same lake things in the summer, and have either gone to the same camps or very similar camps. This makes them very similar to each other and so, naturally, they find each other and clique up. DDD is sort of like this but more OOS. PM and XO don't focus so much on the MB and Mobile girls (or they know they are likely not to get them), so those houses end up being a little better for OOS (still Southern OOS though, for the most part).

Just read the post by the Mobile girl that wants to curt KKG and KD. Good for you girlie. Honestly, if any pnm from in-state wants to break from high school, the best bet is either AXO or a new row house. If you want to hang with the better new row boys, then I would say give a good hard look at ZTA, Alpha Phi and probably Pi Phi. But DG is making a nice run and I have friends there from California that love it. I guess maybe DG is a thing in California? Just being honest as I sit in an airport after an AWESOME year.

Amen! Who in their right mind would put KD over AXO, XO and PM? I'd even put DDD and AGD ahead of them too!
