parties/events

by: .

I'm going to be attending Bama next year and was wondering what events/parties are typical for freshmen in a sorority or fraternity. I have obviously heard of date parties, but I don't actually know what that means. Could someone give a list and explain? Thanks!

A date party is a specific sorority (or fraternity) having a party and their members bring dates to it. There are also swaps which is when a specific sorority and fraternity have a party with each other at the fraternity's house (usually during first semester so the new members can meet new people). there are usually 3/4 date parties a semester and swaps every basically Thursday first semester

What about football games, formals, and darties? Also thank you for your answer!

Football games are a little bit more of a free for all depending on who your friends are/ what you're into, but the sorority houses serve gameday meals (alcohol free) and then fraternity guys will have stuff at their houses or tailgate on the quad. Sorority formals are basically just a fancier date party, but fraternity formals usually involve going somewhere like Nashville or NOLA for the weekend and the girls make the guys coolers. Darties are in the spring and they're at the fraternity houses and it's just a big party for girls/ guys that are friends with the brothers to go to during the day on saturdays

Do mostly Freshman sorority new members go to swaps? Or do older members go too?

What about sorority date parties?

Swaps are mostly for the freshmen, but there will be some actives there too (mostly sophomores). Basically everyone in the house is at sorority date parties, they're the best!!
