how do pnms get actives to follow them on instagra
by: PNMI've seen / heard a lot of girls talking about actives following them on social media... how do they find these girls? should I be worried if no one is following me? And should I be doing anything to get on sororities radars??
#1by: No worries...
I had only a few girls follow me and I already knew them from my freshman year. I'm from far out-of-state and was a reasonably average PNM by my resume (I volunteered, I had a 3.5 GPA, I had recs sent in to most of the houses, I'm cute- not gorgeous, I'm friendly- kind of shy at first, I dress well). I had a full schedule and am in a "top, old-row" house. All I can say is get your wardrobe together, know how to make your hair work in the humidity, practice your small talk skills, and get in your recs. Good luck and we can't wait to meet you!!

Good response from @no worries. PNMs get on the radar in all kinds of ways, but usually from an active knowing them already and bringing their name up and circulating their insta or snap info. It definitely helps to be on the radar in advance and so the experience from @no worries cannot be fairly described as the norm. She must have been really special on first impression and had some excellent aspects to break through as an unknown. But there really is not anything you can do at this point other than get yourself ready with the right hair, makeup, clothes, conversation, well done resume, and all that stuff. Try to make some good experiences happen this summer and have something interesting to share in Coco's about what you did in the summer. Like good trips, rewarding volunteer work, mission trips, etc.

You don't need to worry at all!! I had some girls follow me from other sororities, but I didn't have one girl follow me in my sorority pre-rush. Once they see your, GPA, volunteer work, and that you're a good conversationalist then you will be totally fine. I didn't even have a Rec letter for them, so if you don't have one for a house then don't sweat it! I promise you have nothing to worry about. Good luck!! :)

If your social media is private, you might want to switch it to public during the months up to recruitment (make sure it's clean). You can go private after you get your bid. Only saying this because although girls can't "follow" you after May 1 (you can follow them, but they can't reciprocate and can't make comments), it doesn't mean they won't go on to Instagram or Facebook to put a name with more than the face on your Panhel profile.
