a summary of houses for pnms

by: Pnmadvice

Here it goes:

AXO: the one thing that they do that keeps them top on many lists, is that they tend to make all pnms feel welcome. Even if there isn't a chance. And they get the smartest of the connected Bama girls.

XO and KD: attract and want the same type of girls as AXO gets (Bama/southern, smart, charming) but are less interested in pretending you have a chance.

KKG: Focused on wealth and particularly country club, Mom's a volunteer and community fund raiser,
Brooks Brother kind of wealth. As a result, have more OOS (and northern OOS) than the above houses. And, although less socioeconomically diverse than the above, do end up with a broader range of "types" with respect to party habits, looks, OOS and grades.

DDD: Kind of an acceptable fall back for the girls who may not have gotten their favorite above.

Phi Mu: Compared to KKG want the more "obvious" wealth (or at least the appearance of such), pageant types with Moms that wear big diamonds and drive Eacalaes. . As a result focused on looks and draws more TX and FL girls.

My main issue with this is that GPhi, DZ, AOP and Theta are all lumped together into one description. Those four houses collectively contain more than 1,000 girls and it's so stupid to give them all the same description while making distinctions between houses like AXO and XO, KD and KKG, etc. just because those houses are top tier.

Because a top house is hot and likes to party while ALSO providing academic support, strong sisterhood, and focus on philanthropy.

You don't have to be in a sorority to be hot and go out. The better sororities are the ones that offer their members something different from the GDI experience.

I like that response. makes sense, it's just confusing bc greek life is much simpler in the midwest/north. southern schools complicate greek life and make it their entire lives it seems like, which I'm not used to. cool to see how other people live though!

It definitely varies by school. My cousin goes to a competitive, medium-sized school in the midwest and their Greek system also values a well-rounded experience > which chapter can go out and party. If all you want from your college experience is to get drunk, power to you, but don't pay literally thousands a year to do it. That's just silly. Sororities should be about more.

A note that on grades. Although the lowest amongst sororities, at about 3.00 - APhi grades are respectable.

in general, sorority grade are very good. Much better as a group than the fraternities.

Keep it in perspective and pan love.

OP order is a pretty good reflection of how houses stack up in terms of desirability during rush. It's a reflection of what girls at Bama want in a house.

AGD for example is a top house with a great reputation, but unless you are notably Christian, it doesn't move everyone to want to join.

Bama focused houses like AXO, XO, KD with a strong in state pull get allot of interest.

KKG does too but seems to pull from broader geography as does PM.

ZTA and PiPhi big OOS and non southern pull. \n\n\n\n\n
